It's more than ok, it's delicious.

Honestly though, it should be fine to eat. Some low fat mayos have higher carb counts, so you might want to use the real stuff.

Actually, being on an LC WOE has helped me justify the fact that my tuna salad, never ever makes it out of the mixing bowl.

Thanks!! I guess I can't get past the guilt from my low-fat dieting.

Mine usually doesn't make out of the bowl either!!

Yep it's great. Don't use the Low fat ANYTHING. Low-fat foods often use sugar to subsitute for the fat content. On these diets we WANT fat, and don't want sugar.

Try salmon salad. My husband mixed up a batch and I'm hooked. Bumble Bee has salmon in a pouch no bones or such, mix with real mayo and eat it in a romaine lettuce leaf for extra crunch! We keep it in the fridge and ready for snackin'

I am so happy to see that I am not the only one that eat's from the mixing bowl It makes me feel so much better! I also like to chop a little g. pepper and slice a tomato up (not the whole thing of course) This helps me get all my carbs in. oh and onion!!! don't forget the onion!!!

I second the Hellmans vote. Also, try some homemade -- awesome!

Hellmans! I agree with Maggie and Kellie... And the following is a great recipe for
Tuna Salad
Chicken salad
Salmon salad
Ham salad

Ok, mix any of the aforementioned ground or flaked meats with:
- REAL mayo
- plenty of finely chopped celery
- plenty of finely chopped green onion (scallions)
- and a couple o' heapin' tablespoons of DILL relish (which is particularly good with the ham and the fishes)

Final notes:
- I put a dollop of dijon mustard in the ham salad,
- I spinkle some dried dill weed in with the salmon, and
- I like to mix a little of BOTH hot and mild curry powder (tsp each) in the chicken salad (don't put the relish in this one) it is to-die-for. Really. I'm not kidding.

If it makes it out of the mixing bowl I eat it using celery stalks as a spoon OR, I roll up a load in a Low Carb (La Tortilla) Whole wheat tortilla (heated over the burner), OR I take a romain lettuce leaf, and roll a bunch into a leaf.

AND I always make BOATLOADS (thank you Costco) because even the non-locarbers in the family scarf these up like mad.

Hugs,
Rachel

My DH thinks I get a little carried away with looking at the ingredients of jarred foods, but FWIW, make sure you are using dill pickle relish that has no sugar added. I find the Vlasick has sugar, but the store brands usually do not. For me, those hidden sugars creep up!

I have started to put a few sunflower seeds in chicken salad. It gives it a little crunch!

Once you're past induction, a smattering of Almond Toppers makes a great addition to tuna or chicken salad, too....a nice crunch, some additional flavor, and attractive in the salad besides.

The "right" mayo is any mayo, generic or otherwise, that is real mayo with a zero carb count. Don't use Miracle Whip or anything else with sugar.

Simple as that.

Just read the labels, folks. Read the labels.

If you're lucky enough to live where Dukes Mayonnaise is sold, go for that! No sugar added, GREAT flavor, cheaper than Hellmans.
