Well this is day three and i am doing okay. I am craving something sweet though. Has anyone found anything to help with the sweet cravings or do you just have to wait it out until you can add some fruit.

Welcome Tanya,

During induction, I used "rootbeer floats" to help with sweet cravings. I bought some sugar-free A&W rootbeer and added 2 TBS. of cream to 8 oz. I counted the carbs. This helped me tremendously. You can also use 2 oz. cream cheese, 2 TBS. cocoa powder and about 2 pkts of sweetener. Mix that all up and eat like pudding. Remember to count those carbs too. Try not to go overboard with these treats and try to spread them out and only have this when you are going absolutely nuts. The cravings DO eventually diminish.

Hi Tanya. A couple of things I can suggest. Make sure you're getting enough fat in your diet at this point, it will help with craving period. Also, there's been a lot of debate on LCE regarding the supplement L-Glutamine and using it to knock the craving for sugar. I have used it some, mine are 500mg. You can get them at Walmart, HFS, any place that sells vitamins and supplements.

First, check your diet as I mentioned earlier, drink plenty of water and then if extra help is desired, try the L-Glutamine.

Barb and Kumus, Thank you so much for the advice. Barb those treats sound great especially the root beer float. If I do have to have one I will do so sparingly. Kumus I may not be getting enough fat. I was afraid to eat too much. I will try to increase the fat intake and drink lots of water. Thanks again

Hi. When I had gone about two weeks with nothing sweet, and I just couldn't stand it anymore...I am the cream cheese/cocoa/splenda thingy that Barb wrote about. I add a little heavy cream, and a dash of vanilla to mine. Sometimes I slather it on a rev roll - it is so yummy. Sometimes I just eat it out of the bowl with a spoon. I have to share it with my 2 year old...who now comes in the kitchen and says..."let's make cream, mommy". If she wasn't so cute, I would have a real hard time sharing it....

Hi...
The cream cheese/cocoa thing sounds great..
I also use the root beer floats,
another one is the sugar free jello by itself and also with whipped cream. Yumm...
Dawn

P.S. I also have kids and have to share BUT..
I also feel a little greedy over MY snacks also
the kids love the root beer floats.

SF Jello with homemade whipped cream (splenda sweetened of course)! Mini cheesecakes! Mock Danish! Those things SAVED me during induction.
