I am a newbie but I have read some articles on drinking water to lose weight and yes it it recommended that a person regardless of gender drink 64 oz of water a day plus an additional 8 oz of water for each 25 lbs overweight you are. As for floating noooo that is not going to happen, after a couple of weeks your body adjust and you will not be running to bathroom all the time. And remember the caffeiene in tea and coffee is a diuretic and will cause your body to lose water. Water helps burn fat, it helps your kidneys function properly so that your liver can do it's job of burning fat. If your body does not have enough water the liver has to help the kidneys, when doing that the liver cannot burn the fuel that is used as fat. It is then stored in the body, but if you drink enough water then the liver can do it's own job and turn that fat into fuel. Dieters need more water because we want to burn the fat and get rid of the waste <like all the fat that has been used up>. Water also helps keep muscles toned, skin soft and benefits your hair too. The human body is 60% water and if we don' give our body what it craves then it will think it is in danger and try and hold onto what it needs......water!!!! It will try and store up the water and this will turn into weight gain so the more water you drink the more weight you will lose, your body will turn loose of the stored water. And remember once you reach your weight goal you still need to maintain drinking 64 oz a day otherwise your body will revert back to storing water and this will result in weight gain.

Cool, AnnaBa. Thank you for the info. I have been drinking about 3 L a day, sometimes a little more. You are right about using the washroom less, I thought I might be retaining water so I am happy to know it is normal!
