Mary Ann,
What plan are you following? You need to pick a plan and get the book associated with it. Be informed. Atkins for instance, which is what I do, you are limited to 20 g of carbs per day of leafy greens for the first 2 weeks, then it progresses from there. All plans are slightly different, and there are many of them out there. One plan might be a better fit for your lifestyle so it's important to check them all out and find whats best for you. For info on Atkins, you can go to their main website. As for the other plans like CAD, South Beach, Neanderthin, etc... well I'm not sure about them but believe they are spin-offs of Atkins.

Again I must stress, pick a plan and get the book and READ it. With any LC WOE your body will need more water than the 'average' LF HC dieter. Not drinking adequate water or taking in any carbs can be dangerous. This isn't a quick fix for weight loss although many do lose rapidly during the induction phase of their plan. It's a lifestyle change.

I have to tell you that I feel better than I have in years and for me the Atkins plan is so easy to follow. But everyone is different. Good Luck to you and if you have any questions about any of the plans, many people here will be happy to help you in any way.

Susan

Hi Mary Ann! Welcome to LCE. As Susan said, you must choose a plan and buy the book. You must have a solid track to run on. There is a lot of knowledge to be gained about the low carb WOE, and once you are informed you will feel much better.

There is a great thread about possible help for newbies , you can start right now by reading it. Don't forget that with any plan you choose, you must drink your water. We also have a great thread about drinking your water.

Stop in often on the forum, it has been my lifeline for many months. Our LC family keeps me informed and encouraged!

Best wishes Mary Ann.

Hi Mary Ann,

I have to agree with Susan and Kumus. Get the book, read it, follow the plan. It's that simple. If something in the book confuses you just come here and ask about it - somebody here will have the answer.
