| Men almost always lose faster than women. That sucks, doesn't it? If you have a relatively small amount of weight to lose (say, only 10 to 20 lbs), it may just go at a slower rate. So, much as we'd rather lose faster, try to just be content to be losing at all. Losing at any pace is better than gaining! Your menu looks good, but here's some things to check... amount of veggies? - you didn't specify how many cups, but it's almost always safe and beneficial to increase the LC veggies. pickle - sweet pickles are quite high in carbs due to the sugar in them; not sure about dill pickles. If it's sweet pickle, avoid it. cream - are you measuring? Cream should be limited to a couple tablespoons a day. Atkins' book warns about a "1 tbs" serving turning into a "1/4 cup splash". He's right, it's all too easy to underestimate amounts when you are pouring liquid into another liquid. Half-and-half has less than half the calories and almost as few carbs as whipping cream. You might get a savings by switching to half-and-half in your coffee. cheese - Atkins' book recommends limiting cheese to a few oz. a day. Again, measuring at first is useful to train your eye as to a proper size portion. 1 oz. of cheddar cheese is a surprising small amount. ~~~Teelbee 174 (Mar. 2002, highest weight), 164 (Jan. 2003, begin LC) 164/135/137-134 remember, amateurs built the Ark, professionals built the Titanic |

| Amanda, it sounds okay to me. Wait a little longer and see what happens, and don't compare your results to your husbnand. We're all individuals and lose at different rates. In particular, women usually lose weight more slowly than men. |

| Welcome back. I'm not surprised, men always lose faster and if this is your second time, it's common for it to go slower. I would recommend watching the cream and cheese. You said "zero" carb cheese but in fact, there aren't any cheeses that are actually zero. Usually, 1oz. of cheese has .5 - 1 carb. Make Definately up the green veggies. Things like spinach, zucchini, and broccoli you almost can't eat too much of. Be sure to load up on those greens. Drink more water. A gallon a day should be a minimum. That's 128 oz. And as Teel said, if you only have 15-20 pounds to lose then it will likely go slower than someone who has 100 to lose. Stick with it and it'll work! | Thanks all of you....I am happy to hear I can increase my veggies because I was always careful not to overdue it on those due to carbs. I knew I needed to up my water , and my cheese intake was way too high. However I need to lose 60 -70 lbs not 10-20... So I have a long way to go...Thanks for the support! |
