Andanotherthing, what's with the stanky breath? Have a very bad taste in my mouth. I tried chewing a half ofstickof extra sugar free and I didn't even taste the flavor of mint. It didn't even help my breath. I'm afraid to even talk to someone close up. What's with this !@#@!#!

Hi Shay and welcome to LCE. Ketosis usually yields the bad breath you mentioned. So to answer your other question about the stix, the breath can signal ketosis and the stix are not mandatory. Make sure you're drinking lots of water.

Best wishes!

Not everyone gets the "dragonbreath" but it does rear its head for many!

Don't worry, be happy. As Susan said, that means you're in ketosis and burning those ugly fat stores as we speak.

Drink loads of water! Also I believe that lemon juice is meant to be something of a breath sweetener, so you could try squeezing a wedge of lemon into a cup and having it with hot water ( this is good for digestion and also I have it before my breakfast every morning as it's supposed to cleanse your liver... and if your liver's clean it is more efficient at processing fat!! 3 bonuses in one!) I think that's also a trick from weight watchers.

i will echo the water.... when you are in ketosis, your body expells the ketones in various ways.. your breath is one of them. The more water you drink, the more diluted the ketones become - and the less stinky you are.

you may also notice an oder within your urine and sweat

This is a new one...I did not read anything in Atkins book about the stanky breath...

Its great to have everyone here who knows...

I think he may have left that out on purpose.

The water really helps. I was down on my water for a few days and realized my breathe was so bad my dog ran away. I mean she rolls in the entrails of 3 week dead critters at the lake but my breath was worse? lol

I agree - up the water. Actually Dr. Atkins does mention the breath in DANDR, but he down plays it and says it has a sweet smell to it. I can tell you otherwise.
