Hi Escondite ![]() Many people stall when they eat the bars. If you eat them you should count the total carb and not the net carb the wrapper says. The bars also have a laxative effect on some. I eat the bars on occasion. They do have a laxative effect on me, but they do not stall my weight loss. I will usually only eat half of the bar. If I eat the whole thing I am in the bathroom a lot If you are on induction you should not be eating the bars or drinking the shakes. HTH Susan ( AKA Northwest) 207/178.5/160

Great reply Susan. I would only add that any of the bars I have tried have been NASTY and I wouldn't eat them on a bet. This has scared me off of trying the shakes. I'll stay "natural" thank you. Shortie19 224+/201/130 Since 1/1/03

I used to eat about two a day and then found myself back up to 220 pounds and realized they were the culprit. I advocate not eating them at all because they are not a replacement for meals. Also, I think it important to replace old eating habits with better eating habits and I cannot rationalize eating a "snack bar" when there is a healthy meal to be eaten. Besides...they are expensive and have hidden carbs. My two cents... April 352 / 202 / 180 5'10", large frame, size 13 shoe www.geocities.com/aprilreinhardt

I agree 100%! We really need how to eat right for the rest of our lives if we are to make it! To get to the rainbow you must first pass through the rain!

| I have yet to try an Atkins bar that I like, except the Morning Start apple crisp. I tried several of the "meal replacement" type bars and YUCKO! They all went in the garbage after 1 bite! I think it was as much the texture as the taste. I still have a Mocha Crunch because my coworker says it's good, but I'm afraid to try it! LOL! I do, however, REALLY like the Atkins shakes, especially the Chocolate Royale and the Cafe au Lait flavors. I had one for lunch today. Some days, I'm just NOT that hungry, and find one of these shakes for breakfast or lunch fills my need for nutrition and getting the ol' metabolism going, without forcing down food I don't really have an appetite to eat. And I believe the shakes have NO maltitol (too lazy to get up and go look at one, sorry!) and I've never had a bad effect from them. So in short, I think there is room for some of these "convenience foods" if they do not stall you or cause cravings and if you like them and are willing to pay some big $$ for them, because cheap, they ain't! | I use the bars every once in a while for a meal on the go , cause sometimes I just don't have time to eat and I refuse to eat at fast food places ,IMO they have more hidden everything than the bars ever thought of having. Some people stall when they eat them some don't If they have the laxitive effect on you , you should'nt stall. However I don't advocate using them alot, just in emergencies, if you don't have time for a better choice, and make sure to drink alot of water with them, it'll fill you Jackie |
