Does anyone know anything about the Morning Start Bars? The Atkins site says they're okay for induction and at least one morning a week, I find myself running out the door in the morning. Would these be okay for a once a week breakfast on the run?

Morning Start Apple Crisp Bars, one bar, 37g:

Amount Per Serving:
Calories: ................................170
Calories from fat:..................... 90
Total Fat................................... 9 g
Saturated Fat ..........................4 g
Cholesterol............................... 0 mg
Sodium ...................................70 mg
Potassium............................... 90 mg
Total Carbohydrate................. 13 g
Dietary Fiber........................... 6 g
Sugars.................................... 1 g
Protein.................................... 11 g

If you subtract the fiber from the carbs to get an ECC, then the carbs would be 7. I hadn't realized that Atkins was saying it was okay to have them during induction. I learn something new each day...

Atkins claims the net carb count is 2. The 'unaccounted for' carbs come from glycerin in the morning start bars which they say does not affect blood sugar levels. I keep them here and they are quite good. I think I like the cinnamon bun one a little better than the apple (which is quite crunchy on the inside, thanks to the addition of peanuts which don't taste like peanuts.. go figure) I haven't had one in a couple of weeks but when you are in a rush they are a great saver! Incidentally, our small local grocer here sells them at $3.37 a BOX! Don't know how they are beating Walmart's price and they were shocked when their price was quoted. Needless to say, we stocked up heavily figuring that price wont stay so low for long.

I would avoid them during induction, but then a couple of times a week is okay. That's what I do, because I either get sick of eggs or don't have the time to cook them!

I really love this site. I learn something new everyday that I can eat. MY indution ends Thursday and I am looking forward to sampling a lot of new things to eat. I think I will go to wal-mart and purchase some of these morning start bars. Thank you family!!!
