Carb clockers - If you're committed to a new way of life, and not just a "quick fix", you have no need for carb blockers. Why waste the money?

Some people use them very, very rarely for situations that are just completely unavoidable - most people do without them completely. Anybody that is committed to making a lifestyle change to better their health is not going to to depend on them, or waste the money. JMHO.

Make wise, healthy choices, and you have no need for them.

yes, what you say is very true but I was just wondering if they actually work and help you to still remain in ketosis and have a few more carbs than you normally could without it.

What shrinkydink said. It's really all about getting healthy and changing old habits.

I use them every once in a while, but have tried not to depend on them just so I can have more carbs regularly. Seems a little to "silver bullet" to me. With that said, I have found no adverse effects. But, I also don't use ketostix, so have no idea if I am in ketosis much less whether the carb blockers know me out.

Carol - If you know something like a wedding is coming up, and you don't have the cash to try the carb blockers (which are pricey at about $15 for the cheaper brands), try going down to induction level carbs for 3-5 days beforehand, and if you eat something you wouldn't normally eat, just up your water intake, and stay at induction level for a day or two afterwards.. I've done this in the past, and while I didn't lose any extra weight, I didn't *gain* anything, either, and still managed to lose a little.

Thanks for the info Shrinkydink! My nephews 1st Birthday is Sunday and I have no clue whats on the menue. I feel weird asking my sil whats she having. Feel nosey ya know? So since dh and I are in our 2nd week of induction if there is nothing there I am thinking of taking 2 low carb atkins shakes? Probably not the best idea but what the heck. It hopefully will keep us from the cravings of the food. I am hoping we still can stop home first before we go so we can grab something here first.

Blessings,

Carol

If I did not know what is on the menu, I would ask. But ask in a way like "can I bring anything". Chances are your sil will tell you what she is serving. If I found out it was something I do not eat, like spagetti for example, I would eat before I went, or bring a snack for everyone that you can have. Cheese & cold meats for example. Going to a party hungry in an invitation to cheat.

If it's a birthday party, definitely offer to bring something, and just make sure it's low carb.. A cheese & sausage platter, deviled eggs, etc. are filling, and you know you can eat them. You've also got free reign on meat, especially if its a barbeque..Also, that morning, try to have a bigger breakfast - it'll help..

(And I used to LOVE Shrinky Dinks when I was a kid)
