Today is my last day of induction. I didn't lose any more pounds but I am losing inches. I thought I was ready for this, but I'm kind of scared to move on. It's just in the back of my mind that if I add those extra 5 grams of carbs, I am going to gain back the 6 pounds that I lost the first week? I know others have felt like this, but how did you get pass this feeling?

Just ease your way into it Shay. And reading others' post around here, I think it's best to go ahead and do it.

I started adding carbs by adding an extra serving of veggies. That just doesn't sound scary to me at all. So start by having two salads, and two veggies a day.

Keep your stix handy for reassurance and see how the week goes.

Then add some more cheese - like cottage cheese (makes a nice breakfast if you ask me). Then maybe a serving of nuts as a snack during the day. Then berries! Yum! Who can resist adding back berries??

Remember the idea *is* to slow the weight loss. And don't forget about (or worry over) the infamous newbie stall that everybody seems to get in week 2 or 3. You may slow down, but as long as you're still seeing pink, losing inches and feeling better, then I'd say you're doing great.

Good luck!

I've eaten loads of veggies from the start so have just added in a small handful of nuts and some strawberries and this is working, the weight's still moving..

Shay,

I've only been adding maybe 1 or 2 grams of carbs a day. I've been tracking my foods with fitday and this is what it is telling me. I feel like I am stuffing myself. I must admit though that I ended up with 26 the other day. lol Damn celery! I also am trying to drink more water. This is kinda difficult because I already drink a gallon a day. So, i spend a lot of time that I don't have in the bathroom..

Good luck to you and just sort of ease into it. If you feel 5 is too much just add a couple!

Shay,
Read the topic at the top of the Atkins Diet Ongoing Weight Loss Forum, titled "An Unreasonable Fear of OWLS". This should answer a lot of questions for you.
And believe that lots of us went thru the same thing; adding carbs again can be a little scary after the strictness of induction. But it's a step that you need to make, and we're here to help.

You'll do fine! And 5 carbs really isn't a huge jump, you'll continue to loose.

But I know that fear all so well from the first time I did this WOE.

As long as you're in ketosis, you'll keep those pounds off and keep losing (although you might be due for the dreaded 3rd week stall. Just ignore that; it goes away.)
