I don't think this diet is going to be too expensive for my budget.

I've been reading as many of the low carb cooking sites as I can find and I've found some great ideas and recipes.

I've lost 4 pounds this week and I'm jumping for joy.

I found a recipe on another board for French Toast Crepes they were fabulous. I'll poast the link on the cooking forum.

BettyR, that is a wonderful loss for the week! Good for you! The thing about the WOE/L, is that it forces us to cook healthy and become creative. That's great that you're finding foods and recipes that work for you.

Keep up the good work and don't forget to share your good ideas!

Interestingly, that's one thing I hear often from people who are sort of interested in losing weight. They believe that with 'all that meat' on this WOE that its very expensive and that they can't afford it. The only way its expensive is if you buy all the LC products. If you are eating whole foods and lots of veggies its not any more expensive than any other WOE.

    Hey Betty!

I’m so glad things are working out for you. There are SO many great ideas and recipes for low carbing that’s it’s almost impossible to get bored. And while this woe CAN be more expensive if you buy certain products and cuts of meat a lot, it doesn’t have to be.

I have a recipe I call French Toast Pancakes, you might want to try it. Here’s the link

Keep me up to date on how you’re doing and definitely post good recipes when you find them.

I think one thing people tend to forget on this woe is how much we spend each day on fast food and snack machines. my grocery bill is a little higher now but by making my lunch and snacks at home i know what carbs im consuming and im not spending 10 bucks a day on fast food and junk from the snack machine . Financially it all works out about even, unless you buy tons of packaged lc food.

Also think back to how many diet pills , shakes and miracle potions weve all bought over the years. we certainly didnt mind paying through the teeth for these magic, overnight cures.

aside from the obvious costs of lc eating, what price do we all put on feeling great , having tons of energy, sleeping well, mental clarity, and higher self esteem not to mention all the added health benefits?

im glad to hear you say you think it will manageable for you, thats a good sign that you are committed . congrats on the great loss!!

Were all in this together and we all know there is strength in numbers.

BTW, MarcieLynn... that recipe you posted is basically the Mock Danish I make... Never thought about putting butter and syrup on it, though!

I not only love meat, but some of my favorite add-ins can add up quickly, such as red, yellow and green bell peppers. The splurging on food costs is quickly balanced by the fact that I am eating far less overall.

You can save some money on the bell peppers by sticking to the green ones. They cost less than the red and yellow and they have much fewer carbohydrates. The extra ripening that the red bell peppers get gives them some extra carbs. They taste great, but if you want to save money low-carbing, you don't need them.

And in many cases much cheaper. Particularily (my I use that word a lot ) if you are accustomed to eating out or buying the holy trinity (Grease, Flour, and Sugar. AKA Doughnuts! )

Information gladly given, but safety requires no unnecessary conversation.
