| My SIL asked me a question I didn't have the answer to. I told her I would ask you guys. If a packet of splenda has 1 gram of carbs. then why does a drink made with splenda say it has no carbs? Thanks for your help. Bevben |

| Granular Splenda has dextrose and maltodextrin added to act as "filler," increasing the bulk of the product. Otherwise, there'd only be the tiniest little dab in the packet. Same with most other artificial sweetener packets. Same thing with Nutrisweet and most of the other packeted artificial sweeteners. On a drink or commercial product's nutrition label, the carbs are shown "per serving." If a serving has less that one carb, there is no requirement to put it on the package. Also, commercial products can use liquid Splenda (sucralose) from the manufactuer, which contains no added dextrose or maltodextrin. Liquid Splenda is not available to the consumer in the US. | thats one reason why so many of us love the DaVinci's syrups, or even Natures Flavors they use the liquid version of Splenda so there are no carbs. My LC web site LCE Member since 12/00 |
