hi all,

today i am starting dr atkins diet. i just had a baby in june and still need to lose a few pounds. I have done this before and lost about 15 pounds(pre-pregnancy). Right now I am 140 and would like to get to 125-130.

are chicken mcnuggets allowed in the induction phase? I read in my handbook they only have 15 carbs.... what do you all think ?

Thanks & I look forward to being a part of this fantastic board!!!

I believe chicken nuggets would be a no-no,unless you peel off the breading.

they may be 15 carbs, but your only allowed 20 a day during induction.

You want most of those carbs to be green leafy veggies and meats..

I'd get a salad w/ grilled chicken instead =)

Welcome, alb ~

I highly recommend you read Dr. Atkins' book, and learn as much as you can about low-carbing. The book (and the website) will give you a list of foods that are acceptable for induction, and those are the ONLY things you should eat at first. Chicken McNuggets are not definitely not on the list for induction, and in MY book, they are off the list of acceptable foods forever. Others will have differing thoughts about this, but in my opinion, fast foods that are breaded and deep-fried are perfect examples of things that really don't belong on a low-carb menu.

Make your own "McNuggets" by baking or frying chunks of fresh chicken seasoned with ingredients YOU select, and enjoy!

Best wishes,

Better yet, get the double cheeseburger and a salad!

God bless the person on this forum who said to use the bun as a burger holder! I pull the burger out of the bun about 2 inches and take bites until I hit the bun. Then I pull out more burger to eat.

Very handy to eat the burger this way if you are driving!

Ditto about the double cheeseburger!

Ditto about the McNuggets too. God knows what those things are really made out of. And 15 carbs a nugget isn't low carb no matter how you look at it.

Ditto about reading the book.
