Hi ladies and gents!

My name is Karen and I have been on watching my carb intake for about two months now. I have lost 5 kilos in that time and I am very happy with the results I have started being a bit naughty lately and eating things I shouldnt have, so Im glad I have found these forums because hopefully I will be able to stay on track!

Talking about things always helps!

I plan on losing another 5 kilos in the next 4 weeks. I am going to the big city on October 20th and I plan to be at my goal weight by then

I am looking forward to getting to meet you all over the next few months and I hope I can also offer some insight and ideas in the threads other people start!

Ill post my stats here so I can show off once I have lost my weight

Height: 5ft 9inches
Starting weight: 75 kilograms
Current weight: 70 kilograms
Goal weight: 65 kilograms

I have a question though, does anyone have any good excercises they would recommend for losing extra fat on arms? I own a webdesign business and so I spend alot of time on computers, this means my arms look quite flabby.

I have just been reading through other posts in these forums and I think that I had better do my induction again. I have been norty for about a week now. Although I havent had any breads or cereals, I have been having a fair bit of sugars.

Is anyone else doing the Atkins induction at the moment? I would like a partner to do it with me if someone else is doing it

Welcome aboard mate, to LCE!

Make sure you choose a book for your plan and read it.

You'll find this community to be very informative, friendly and supportive. Post often, it really helps to inspire yourself and others.

Try some exercises with weights, I'm sure BC can give you some insight on this subject.

Best wishes,

Susan

i havent read a book about the diet, but when i first started i read HEAPS online at websites similar to this one.

Two very good buys I made were:
1. Carbohydrate-counter book (details every food and what its carbohydrate count is)
2. "The Power of Protein" cookbook ... its filled with really yummy high protein and low carb recipes that are so simple!

Just some information for us metrically impaired Americans.
Kaz's stas are 165/154/143

So You're very close to goal. I wish you the best losing that last 5 kgs (11lbs) but it might not happen in 4 weeks. Those last few pounds can be stubborn.

Hi Kaz...not the time zones I'm in Aus too..from the time of your post you must be in QLD as well??
I drink HEAPS of water, it's been so hot in Brissy lately! I've only been on a week and not lost anything but I think clothes are looser, in any event I FEEL better. I know my diet is spot on for carb counts I actually sometimes have to try and get in more at the end of the day cos I've only hit 12 or so. I eat tons of salad with grilled meat in it, every few days I'm out on the barbie cooking mince, steaks, fish, you name it and I just pack it off to work with my salad or some stirfry veg like chinese cabbage and a few mushrooms. My cravings for starch/bread are gone, and yes, I know it's ONLY a week but I want results YESTERDAY! *LOL* I work out a fair bit so it may go slower for me..it's 0740 and I'm off to outrigging training for a few hours.
Want to lose 10kg and I know this works, I did it quite a few years ago when I was in bodybuilding and it was amazing..(then I got fat!)After that I tried WW and every low fat diet on the planet and minimal results, finally got fed up with mucking about so went back to this...it's a mindset tho..you have to be prepared to give up certain foods (or at least limit them)and for a long while I wasn't ready. I'm ready now..with a vengeance but sometimes feel a bit discouraged..I actually started induction 12 days ago but 4 days into it gobbled 2 handfuls of cashew nuts so restarted and have been 100% faithful even giving up all caffeine and sweets...nothing but stuff that's on the allowed list for this chook! So my new last day of induction will be next Saturday and I KNOW I can do it! May need a bit of support at times from ppl in here tho...!!
Anyway, this was meant to be a quick post, my ride will be here soon and I've got to get dressed and be on the river in 15 min!!!
Catch you later...!
Kalo

yeah kalo I am in Queensland Im from Mackay (Central Queensland). Good luck with it all! Im sure with all your excerise with rowing and such will help you lose the weight quicker.

Im a bit worried about my 2nd induction too ... because I have gotten used to snacking on Cadbury diet chocolate (1 carb per 3 squares) and the Dairy Bell diet icecream (5 carbs per serving), and I gotta get used to going all the way back to the basics :O

ok I figured it out to be 11 pounds I have to lose :P Thankyou Metrication

Hi Barb! Yes I think the 2 of us down in Aus will do ok..at least hoping so!! Will need lots of support I'm sure, at least I know that I will!! Been reading posts for about a month and only decided to log on now..

Kaz..Mackay is so far...ever come to Brissy? Just got home from paddling, only 2 hrs but it's pretty full on...anyone want to take a squiz go to www.brisbaneoutrigger.com it's good fun..only REAL training starts in Nov at 0430 am!!!!!

Have to be at work at 3pm it's 1130 am now need to shower and be on bus by 2...totally procrastinating but need to bbq my meals for next few days so thought I'd pop online and see who's here..

Hoping cos I've restarted induction this works, a bit worried that cos its my 2nd time on Atkins (last several years ago) and cos I had to redo induction that my loss will be minimal...any thoughts from anyone??

Thanks...
Kalo

Kaz,

be very careful with gettin naughty with sugars!! I've lived and learned there - and I really regret being naughty too.... I was so close to my goal weight... and now i have a lot farther to go to get there again.

nip it quick - and never look back.

some even say they see sugars as poison, as look what it does to our bodies. (plus it's addictive)

congrats on your loss!!

yes kalo I go to brisbane about once a year for holidays I am actually going to be there in a few weeks for my older brother's 24th birthday. Its a beautiful city, and so much shopping!!! In Mackay we have 2 major shopping centres, and a few smaller onces, but nothing compaired to Brisbane's shopping.

Although Mackay is lucky because we have the Whitsundays as part of our region, so there are islands to visit.
