Hello. I want to start making my own baking mixes and flour mixes and don't want to keep paying the high prices for the prepackaged ones. Has anyone found a co-op/grocery store/natural food store where one can purchase the soy protein powders, whey and egg white powders , almond meals, flaxseed meals, etc.?

I live near Milwaukee, WI.

Thanks for your time.

Amy

I don't live in WI, so I can't direct you to a specific store there, but have you checked out Bob's Red Mill, online? They have most or all of what you mentioned in your post above. Do you have a Whole Foods Market near you. I shopped there once, and found a lot of the stuff you mentioned, in bulk.
I found everything you mentioned, and more, at a great large HF store about 30 min. from me. The reason it's such a great store is because it caters to 7th Day Adventist people. It has lots of meatless products (which Adventist like, because they are vegetarians) , but a lot of healthy grains and nuts, flours, protein powders, healthy breads, low carb breads, and a very large selection of lc products (which I buy few of, because it can slow my weight loss). This is the only place I found plain kefir in my area. You would think that it would be generally easy to find, but not so. It also has a huge selection of suppliments. The largest selection I have every seen! Even bigger than Vitamin World or GNC stores.
If you don't mind ordering online, Bob's Red Mill is a good place to check out.

Amy, any good health food store should carry some of these products and/or be willing to order them for you.

Bob's Red Mill is common enough that even our larger grocery chains in the Chicago area carry them (Jewel, Dominicks).

You can make almond meal easily by grinding raw almonds in your food processor--just don't overdo or you'll get almond butter

Flaxseed meal you can grind yourself, too, in a coffee grinder (one that isn't used for coffee) or you should be able to find at any big HFS.
