Hi all you have a great site here. You all are very supportive, and offer great help.
Heres my dilemma:
I have done the atkins 3 times before now. This being my fourth time I probably should know better. Any way I have been low carbing for 8 weeks now. I thought I was in an induction period, but I failed to know that pure delite candy bars have hidden carbs ( I think anyway). Two weeks ago I broke down and bought some keto sticks, I was not in! I thought going six weeks with no weight loss was wierd. So I quit the candy bars that day, two days later I was in (dark purple), and have been in every since. So now at two weeks for sure in I haven't budged the scale or tape. My first question is: Am I expecting something too soon? Could it have been the candy bars or is something wrong with me? Here is a menu:

Breakfast- bacon(6 slices) muenster cheese
Lunch - grilled chicken salad with cucs
and cheese
Dinner- meat of any kind and a dinner salad
Snack -peanuts or pecans
and an occasional atkins choc shake

Your help would be greatly appreciated!! I have no clothes that fit!!
Thanks

Hi incoehoots. My first thought after reading your menu is you are not eating enough! You are now in OWL, and your carbs should be increased way more than you are consuming now -- you should be at 25+ per day. Try adding some more protein to your breakfast and vary your veggie intake -- add some broccoli, cauliflower, celery, zucchini. Believe it or not, NOT eating enough will put you into a stall just as quick as eating too much. Try adding some nuts or try the mock danish recipe that floats around here.

Yeah, you are like most of us and need to stay away from the fake candybars with sugar alchohols. There are some great recipes for other types of candy. If you are dire, see the thread in the cooking section for chocolate. (LC Chocolate)

But you are right, it is the candy bars -- it is most certainly not you. I am sure others will agree. Most importantly, Drink LOTS of water (1/2 ounce for every pound you weigh).

Good luck and hang tough.

Kellie,
Can I be on OWL when I haven't yet lost a darn pound?? I just went back to induction to maybe produce some results. Thank you so much for saying I am not eating enough, that felt good!!'
Thanks again and looking forward to more advice.

It was the candy bars.

Side note: When using the ketostix, it's best to test yourself when you haven't guzzled large quantities of water in the last few hours. For me, that's before bedtime or in the morning.

You're having a dinner salad, and some cucumbers each day? Where are the rest of your veggies? Veggies are your friend!

Ditch the nuts, ditch the bars, and trade them in for a second salad, and a bunch of other GOOD veggies, and you should see results.

Mandy, like the others, once you ditch the ickies, your weight loss will kick in. Other things to consider: how much caffeine are you consuming? Coffee and tea can stall weight loss. Diet pop? Aspartame can hold you back. Medications? There are MANY meds that can stall...anti-depressants being the most common. There are so many factors to eliminate and figure out. Are you using a food journal? Using Fitday is a good tool to see where your nutrients are being broken down. This will give you an idea where your fat levels are (they should be high!). Keep posting your questions...we'll help you figure it out!

Perseverence pays!

*sigh*
You cannot have "low carb" products while in Induction. In my humble opinion, you shouldn't have low carb candies or treats ever. There are myriad reasons to support my claim, but the best one is that there truly are hidden carbs in them.
You're not expecting too much, too soon. Ditch the low carb products (shakes, bars) and eat foods from their natural state and you'll see a difference.
Read "Possible help for Newbies" in the newbies section.

My two cents....

Thanks to you all-
When I make my salads at home they have calif, cucs, eggs, celery, and a little onion.
Ditch the shakes too? I think Ive lost a 1/2 inch at all 3 measured areas. No looser clothes yet tho.
Thanks again for all of your help. It must be a little harder the 4th time around.

Mandy,

Good luck with your weight loss!! I was starting to use the candy bars too. Some of them are soooo good.

Anyway, I can't believe that you are from Cadiz. My mom and dad are from there, though we all live in GA now.

Nevery give up!

Your menu sounded okay to me. It's probably just a matter of waiting for your whoosh.
