| My Wife and I are starting a weigh loss journey and we are going to do high Protein and low carbs. We would appreciate seeing a list of low carb foods and getting any suggestions that you could give. |

| Welcome, Mike. My first suggestion would be that you do a little research. Browse around and decide on which of the various low carb eating plans makes the most sense to you. Then get the book that goes with it. You really do need a "roadmap" to make this a successful way of life. Then come here often for those questions that will certainly arise along the way! You'll find that there are many helpful and informed members of this community who will offer much information and support. | I agree with febe and buy the atkins book or whatever book for the low carb plan you are working on. Also purchase a good carb/calorie book and keep it in the car for road trips...then you will be prepared in knowledge! |

| Buy a couple good cookbooks to alleviate the initial "what do I eat???" problem. I had a few days where I just sat there, thinking..."Ok. I'm tired of eggs. What do I eat??!" |

| I agree with all of the above. Do some research, choose a plan, and BUY THE BOOK. Understanding your eating plan and how it works will help you stay on the straight and skinny. On the Atkins plan (and I'm assuming other low carb plans) if you screw up once during the day you've basically screwed up for 3 or 4 days. That doesn't mean it is a bad plan it just means that there is a physiological reason for it that you need to understand. I also recommend a cookbook or two, or some searching for low carb recipes here and there on the internet. You will become more creative and reap the rewards in more ways than one. Good luck! |
