Oh, yes, butter is allowed on induction! It is in the induction section of the book under the oils and fats.

Yes, a cheese omelet is a great thing to have in induction. Just make sure the recipe is an induction recipe. Cream is okay (if you use that) and cheese up to 3-4 ounces per day is allowed. As long as you stick to just the foods in the induction section, you can mix and match to your heart's content. I cannot recall offhand which recipe you are talking about 'cause I don't have my book handy, but if it is labeled as an induction recipe it will pass muster.

I don't know what's in that recipe, but butter is one of the reasons this WOE is enjoyable.

Butter on your veggies, butter in your eggs, butter to broil your steak, butter to grill your chicken, butter to swirl your shrimp in.

Post induction, I also use butter in my flaxseed/wheat bran cereal.

As in all things, moderation eventually comes into play.

i am also using fitday, and keeping track of what i eat, etc. so today's meals were 3 scrambled eggs with 1/4 cup colby jack, and 2 deviled eggs with must/mayo and salt. so my total right now is 6 carbs eaten today. and im drinking my water too. this could be fun!

Deviled eggs are the staple of my diet. I also like chicken, tuna, or ham salad with real mayo and seasonings.

would sliced turkey wrapped around string cheese be a good snack? thanks for your help!
also, i am a sufferer of migraines, caffeine is what deters them when i feel one coming on. Therefore, will i suffer a set-back during induction should i get a migraine and have a coke?

If you're used to having caffeine and stop, you will surely get a headache that goes on for about 48-72 hours. Feels as if the top of your head is going to blow off. This is not a migraine - it is withdrawal. Caffeine is a physically addictive drug in the classic sense.

I gave up caffeine for a few months many years ago for other reasons. It didn't do what it was supposed to do, so I returned to my beloved coffee and tea.

When I started this WOE, I did not give up my morning coffee or my tea (full octane). This might have contributed to my slower weight loss, but it was a fair trade off in my mind.

YMMV.

halyedee,

I'm not sure about the coke...A real coke? A real coke has quite a bit of sugar, so that might be a problem. Cola sweetened with sucralose is the best bet. I must confess I have not been able to give up my caffeine yet. I'm taking things in stages. I'm in my sixth week and have lost 16 lbs. I don't seem to have a problem drinking the caffeine but some people report problems with it. Dr. A says some people have lowered blood sugar and hence cravings with too much caffeine but I don't seem to have that problem.

I agree with Maggie because for me there is "no life before coffee." I've compromised. I have one really great "no-holds-barred" cup of coffee in the morning. Something to look forward to.

no i seriously am a life long migraine sufferer, they started when i was 5. I have had every pill/shot/test imaginable and the only thing that stops them when they start is either demerol or 4 excedrin migraine, and a coke. im used to have a coke about 4 times a week, what i am asking is, is this going to be a problem?

Coke is NOT good in any way, shape, or form. I've had severe migraines since I was 13 years old - I've had EKGs, MRIs, and every other test known to man, with no definite "cause" for them. Only strong drugs and caffeine helped them.

Sugar is NOT part of the cure for a migraine - it causes more problems than just the headache itself.

If you absolutely need caffeine to get rid of them, try Vivarin, or No-Doz with Excedrin Migraine.

Again, you don't need the sugar, and it's guaranteed to derail your weight loss.

BTW - Just as a FYI, since starting this WOL, my last migraine was during induction when I was going through "detox" (I used to get them a couple times a month, and they'd last for 2-5 days at a crack). I haven't had one since. I'm more convinced than ever that sugar/starch was somehow the *cause* of them.
