Hello all,

I am new to this and am so glad that I found this website! Whoohooo!

Anyway, I am currently in Induction. This is about the 20th time I have tried it and am determined to stick it out this time. My problem is that I have no energy when I start exercising. About 10-15min into a run I am completely pooped out. Is there something wrong? I have been eating the 20 carbs a day; probably a little more than that. When I am not exercising I feel fine....I know I need to exercise but where do I find the strength? Energy Pills?? Please help!!!

Tough one, but it does happen. Don't worry, it does get better! You may want to make sure you are drinking enough water, and also to eat before you exercise, if you can. I tend to work out early in the morning (am currently in Slugville, however, as it is dark as Hades right now, and my treadmill hasn't arrived), so I rarely eat before my morning run, but I always scarf olives, or a handful of macadamia nuts before workouts at any other time. Right now, you're "purging" all the crud, so it may take a bit to get the energy boost.

Good luck and keep us posted!

Thanks Jen!

I am so glad to hear that this feeling will pass. I have never felt like this before. I feel as though I ran a marathon or something...my muscles are weak and shakey and I only ran for 30 mins. I will definitely try to eat before working out and see if that helps. I will keep you posted and thanks for the quick reply!

Atkins does not necessarily recommend exercise during the induction phase. My hubby (who is an avid martial artist) and I skipped or went really light on the exercise at first. He actually upped his carbs (particularly right before going to the do-jo) so that he could cope with the exercise (healthy carbs mostly, although Atkins bars have been a god-send for him). If you exercise heavily/regularly, I think upping your carbs (at least before the exercise) would probably help.

My Fiance told me the same thing...not to exercise during Induction. I am getting married in a year and am so anxious to lose this weight! Maybe I should take it easy these first two weeks and let my body adjust. Thanks for the advice and I will add some more veggies to my diet to help me with the work outs. My ketosis strips are pretty dark so hopefully adding some more carbs won't do any damage to my weight loss efforts.

Oh, I just bought some Atkins shakes...maybe I should try drinking one of them before exercising? Hum...I'll try it and let you know.

I have this problem too, sometimes. I found (and maybe it's placebo) that if I take vitamins before bedtime, then another vitamin C before morning jogging, I do pretty well. That was for post-induction, though. I stopped working out, for the most part, during induction. Ugh muscle fatigue!

Congrats on the wedding, Melissa!

Thanks for the wedding congrats and the advice on how to overcome this muscle fatigue. I usually take my vitamins in the morning after working out but I will try the bed time thing.
