| I'm assuming that if I should buy the "new, revised" edition, that it is best to buy DANDR versus 'The Age-Defying' book or Atkins for Life. Your thoughts would be much appreciated. Debby 206.5/164.5/140? CAD/CALP since 1/12/03 |

| For $8 for the paperback version, I'd invest in the updated book. Atkins For Life is a waste of good cash. I have it. If I'd have spent the money on it, instead of someone else, I'd have tried to return it the next day. It's rehashing all the same stuff in the DANDR book, and includes about 125 recipes; none of which sound the least bit appetizing, other than a couple ice cream recipes. Just my personal opinion. While I like the DANR book a lot, I think the Atkins Quick and Easy New Diet Cookbook ... um .... SUCKS! I doubt the recipes in it were taste tested, much less kitchen tested! Oh well. I guess I can use it for firestarter next winter. ~~~Teelbee 174 (Mar. 2002, highest weight), 164 (Jan. 2003, begin LC) 164/133/137-134 remember, amateurs built the Ark, professionals built the Titanic |

| Yep - Got that book, too. The only thing I've made out of it was the coleslaw. I even altered that recipe to make it taste better. The Pecan Buttermilk Waffles can not be described in anything other than single syllable words - Bleh! Yuck! Ick! No! ...and they sounded so good, too. | You guys crack me up! Thanks for the heads up! Won't waste my money on the other books. Did pick up the new improved version of the DANDR book. Looks a bit different than my earlier book. Still starting tomorrow and will read the book after my DD goes to Grandma's for an overnight. Thanks, Debby 206.5/164.5/140? CAD/CALP since 1/12/03 |

| I have the old, old, version of Atkins book. It's in boxes somewhere in the closet or garage. I pretty much memorized it many years ago so I haven't felt a pressing need to get it out. I perceive differences between the old way of doing Atkins, which worked great, and the new way. There seems to be more emphasis lately on vegetables and water and less emphasis on ketostix. The last part is unfortunate, perhaps, but maybe they got tired of explaining to people how to use them. I can't imagine doing this WOE without the sticks. ************** "Sometimes I think you have to march right in and demand your rights, even if you don't know what your rights are, or who the person is you're talking to. 1. People lose weight and are not necessarily in ketosis 2. If you use alot of sticks its more costly 3. Some people become obsesses with the sticks, like the scale, and lose focus on other predictors of success, ie inches lost...which wreaks havoc with motivation. Good luck to all you newbies, need any help...just holler |
