My copy of DANDR is dated 1992. I've just been made aware that there is a newer version out there. Should I buy the new version? Or just read the old one and rely on that plus what I can read here. I'm starting induction tomorrow.

I'm assuming that if I should buy the "new, revised" edition, that it is best to buy DANDR versus 'The Age-Defying' book or Atkins for Life.

Your thoughts would be much appreciated.

For $8 for the paperback version, I'd invest in the updated book. Atkins For Life is a waste of good cash. I have it. If I'd have spent the money on it, instead of someone else, I'd have tried to return it the next day. It's rehashing all the same stuff in the DANDR book, and includes about 125 recipes; none of which sound the least bit appetizing, other than a couple ice cream recipes.

Just my personal opinion.

LOL! Gotta be careful about for those Atkins recipes!

While I like the DANR book a lot, I think the Atkins Quick and Easy New Diet Cookbook ... um .... SUCKS! I doubt the recipes in it were taste tested, much less kitchen tested! Oh well. I guess I can use it for firestarter next winter.

Yep - Got that book, too. The only thing I've made out of it was the coleslaw. I even altered that recipe to make it taste better.

The Pecan Buttermilk Waffles can not be described in anything other than single syllable words - Bleh! Yuck! Ick! No!

...and they sounded so good, too.

You guys crack me up! Thanks for the heads up! Won't waste my money on the other books. Did pick up the new improved version of the DANDR book. Looks a bit different than my earlier book. Still starting tomorrow and will read the book after my DD goes to Grandma's for an overnight.

Thanks,

Debby

I have the old, old, version of Atkins book. It's in boxes somewhere in the closet or garage. I pretty much memorized it many years ago so I haven't felt a pressing need to get it out.

I perceive differences between the old way of doing Atkins, which worked great, and the new way. There seems to be more emphasis lately on vegetables and water and less emphasis on ketostix. The last part is unfortunate, perhaps, but maybe they got tired of explaining to people how to use them. I can't imagine doing this WOE without the sticks.
