I can't eat food before a workout, or I get ill, so I drink one of the small 6 or 8 oz. Diet V8 Splash juice drinks on the way to the gym.. 4 carbs, 3 grams of sugar, and something like 15 calories.. easy to burn off, gets me through a good hour long workout, and doesn't boot me out of ketosis.

Some people consume protein, and seem to do fine. Some people need a few extra carbs, and make a sandwich, etc.. You have to find out what works for you, and you can only do that through trial and error.

LCleo, I like to have a little protein, a little carb, and a little fat already in my system before a workout, so I have a homemade protein or kefir shake about a half hour to 45 minutes prior.
