I've been on the Atkin's induction for a month now. I only had 10 lbs to lose and have lost 1/2 so far. The going is pretty slow, but I contribute that to the amount I need to lose.I am a sugar addict and haven't had a grain of it since I started this. I use the Stevia Plus instead. I limit myself with this because I'm working at conquering my sweet tooth.I keep my ratio at 65% 30% 5% and only eat what's on the induction list. I also drink at least 100 ozs of water and do my stepper for 30 minutes 5 xs per week.

I plan to be a low carber for life and will be starting the gradual climb upwards with my carbs.

This looks like a great place to be and I look forward to getting to know all of you. If I ever figure out how to post a picture, I will.

    SpecialK,

Welcome to the boards ~ you'll like it here.

It sounds like you've got the right attitude for success, in looking at this as a lifestyle change rather than a quick fix. However, you would be wise to up your carbs with more veggies NOW ~ it may be doing you more harm than good to stay at induction levels for so long with only 5 more pounds to lose. Pile on the veggies, and I bet you'll be pleasantly surprised at what happens on the scale.

    Best wishes,

Thanks, Sky. That was my intention. I think more high fiber vegetables will help the constipation also. That seems to be a bad side affect of this induction.

    specialK,

I agree with Sky about upping the carbs now. I know its scary to venture past induction, but it really does help to eat more carbs, especially if you are close to goal. High fiber veggies are a plus.

Just FYI, I found a surprising cure for the constipation--magnesium! I have always had a problem with irregularity! I started taking the magnesium several years ago for other reasons and it cured my constipation! I have been regular ever since! What a nice surprise! I usually have to take 800 to 1200 mcg spaced out during the day but I am a severe case. I am no doctor, just passing on what has worked for me! Have not had ANY constipation during this WOE! This has also worked for several friends of mine who have suffered from chronic constipation, so it's not just me.

    Welcome Kay!!!!

Try flaxomeal cereal for some more fiber. I use about 2 TBS of each of the following:
Flaxmeal, ground almonds (flour), pecans, pistachios, milk and egg powder (health food store or Trader Joe's) with 1/8 tsp. stevia and 1 pkt splenda and some kind of flavoring. To which I add about a 1/4 cup of HOT water. Mix well. I also add about a TSP. of flax oil after it has cooled off a bit. Drink lots of water with this. That always gets my plumbing moving.

Welcome SpecialK, this is a great site.

Congratulations on losing 5 pounds! I agree that you should now up your veggie carbs. You do not want ot stay on induction too long.

    Good Luck!

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone.I'm just getting home from a busy weekend and was pleasantly surprised by the responses.

I'm already doing the flax meal and will definitely try the magnesium.
