"Low Carb Newbies" at Low Carb Diet Support: "Ok. I have been told so many things and I guess that I am asking for more info. Is sugar alcohol safe or bad? I am leaning towards bad. Thanks!...."

Well?? not to sure myself there although I do seem to have some trouble with Sugar alcohols...usually kick me outta ketosis or pretty close to out?? But sometimes I just gotta have something thats sweet and chewy like a LC bar or candies...specially around TOM Oh well better than 1/2 gal of ice cream....Im sure one of the LC veterans can give you more info??

Thank you! That really did explain things. I felt that they were better than sugar but knew that they were doing a bit of something to me that was not quite....free feeling.

Andrea, I'm not sure I can agree with your article.

Go to diabetes.about.com and look at the glycemic index for various brands of maltitol. It's NEARLY IDENTICAL TO SUGAR. It surprised me. Perhaps I'm misinterpreting things.
