I tried to search for this info (because I thought I'd seen it before), but couldn't find it. So, here goes...

Is it okay to have Hot Wings on Induction? Seems to me it would be, but somewhere I saw a post about there being carbs in Frank's Hot Sauce (my fave).

Frank's Hot Sauce Igredients: Aged Cayenne pepper, vinegar, water, salt and garlic powder.

Do any of these ingredients contain carbs? The Nutrition label reads:

Serving Size: 1 teaspoon (who ever uses just 1 tsp?)
Calories: 0
Total Fat: 0
Total Carb: 0
Protein: 0

Is it possible that a bigger serving size has some carbs in it? I didn't think so based on the ingredients, so I thought I'd ask here.

I absolutely love my homemade hot wings, so it would be wonderful to be able to have them on induction.

TIA,

Debby

I love Frank's! I count it as 2 per TB. I can't remember why, but I believe it was from calling the company years ago. A manufacturer can say "0" for any serving size that has fewer than .5 gms of carbs. If it's over .5 but less than 1, they usually say "less than" 1 gm per serving.

Frank's Rules!

Don't forget the blue cheese dressing for dipping your wings and celery!

Here in the North Carolina the prevailing hot sauce is Texas Pete. Excellent! I like Frank's alot, but I like Texas Pete even more. It has xanthan gum as a thickener. Just some info for those that may find frank's hot sauce hard to find.

Oooooooo Debbie wings are soooo yummy!! I made them last week in a small fryer I have. I used the lowest carb hot sause possible in our grocer. I just drizzled a bit over all the wings after frying for taste. Dh wanted more but I wanted to keep carbs down. Not sure what the name of ours is but it is made in Buffalo NY where the wings came from.

How do you make your wings? Fryer?? or oven? Did they fill you up? My dh was hungry about an hour after eating Gotta find something else for him I guess.

Anyone reading this have a recipe for a sweeter sause thats low carb???

Blessings,

Carol

Hi DebbyH,

I have been groooovin' on hotwings at the Outback steakhouse near me. (They call them kukaburra wings) They have wings with no breading on them. They use tobasco sauce and I dip into bleu cheese dressing! YUMMY!

Deep fried is the way to go! Good and crispy. And you can make your own wing sauce really easy. Take 1/2 Cup of your favorite hot sauce, we like the Garlic Tobasco or the Chipotle Tobasco, and wisk it with 1/3 cup melted butter. Toss it on your wings and you've got a ZERO carb snack. Another way we like them is to toss the wings with some melted butter and then sprinkle them with Old Bay Seasoning. Awesome. DH and I are "wing-aholics".

All right... I believe that spicy heat counteracts carbs. The hotter the food, the more we should be able to eat. I suppose Frank's is OK (Don't they claim to be the original Buffalo wings sauce?), but what's up with a sauce from North Carolina calling itself Texas Pete?

Now, if you want "hot" wings, you need to be using Dave's Insanity Sauce.

http://www.davesgourmet.com/

He has a selection of sauces with a bit more or less heat. Total Insanity is my favorite thus far.

Or, you may want to try one of Blair's death sauces. http://extremefood.com/index.php

They have a simple recipe for Blair's "death wings."

Maybe use Frank's or Texas Pete, and add a bit of the real deal to spice it up and "kill" any stubborn carbs.

You might want to try mixing up your own hot sauce with cayenne pepper (with garlic, vinegar, etc.) so you can "tune" the heat to your own taste. The new Tabasco Chipotle is pretty mild, too--much more so than the original Tabasco. It has a nice smoky taste.

You could try a mixture of paprika and cayenne. Paprika is like a wussy form of cayenne.

Jetdad, are you from Texas? If so, I recommend you give Stubb's Wicked Chicken Wing sauce in Inferno out - or anyone living in the Lone Star state for that matter!
