I just started Induction a week ago and so far have lost 5 pounds, which I believe to be only water weight since my clothes are still way too tight. I don't have too much weight to lose, just 15-20 lbs. and I'll be happy. I'd like to know approximately how long it should take for me to lose this weight because I really HATE this diet and can't wait for it to be over! Someone at a health food store told me it will only take a month. Is this true because to me, that seems like a really short amount of time.
Thanks.

I've been on Atkins now for almost 3 weeks and have lost 13 lbs. At about 2 weeks I hit a stall, and have had a hard time breaking out of it. The only concern I have is that you are looking to loose 15-20lbs then you'll quit this Way of Eating. Atkins is a life style change. It is modifying what and the way you eat for the rest of your life. The minute you quit and go back to your old ways, the weight will come back on. If you're just looking for quick, short term diets, with great results... you may want to consider something different. Especially if you hate this diet. You will always be supported here though... I just wanted you to know that Atkins is a long committment. I know several people who have done the same thing you want to do, and the weight came right back... Something to think about....

As soon as you lose the weight, you will put it ALL back on and maybe then some....guaranteed. Since you have less to lose, it might take you longer but who knows. I doubt you will lose 20 lbs in a month but you never know. However, if you don't do this properly, you will definitely put it back on as soon as you start eating the way you did. Good luck in whatever you do and visit here frequently, maybe you can find recipes you like and will be able to have fun on this WOE!

A) This isn't a "diet" - it's a way of life.

B) You take it off in a month, you'll put it all back on in 2 months; possibly less.

C) If you hate it so much, why are you wasting your time?

This isn't a quick fix for vanity purposes. If you try to make it so, you're just doing yourself an injustice.

What are you eating that you hate? There are so many foods to choose from - it's not necessary to eat things you don't like.

Perhaps you could post a few days menus - there may be some things we could suggest that make it more palatable.

Remember, no matter what eating plan you use to lose weight, it should be generally something you can live with your whole life.

Low fat, low carb - whatever. If you revert to the eating habits that made you fat in the first place, you'll get fat again.

So, pick a diet plan you can live with - you will be able to eat a little more when you are in the maintenace phase, but it won't be a free for all.

Take it from me, do not go off the diet, I lost 20 pounds, got lazy and indifferent and went off this wol and gained back 28 pounds. I find that retrying induction is extremely difficult, I am still struggling.........

Ditto what Dinky said.

LC'ing is not a diet. It is a lifestyle that, over time, will help you normalize your weight and maintain that new weight.

Angie is it the induction diet you hate or is it the whole Atkins WOE? I, like yourself, started the induction to lose about 20 lbs. I lost about 8 lbs in the 1st 2 weeks then nothing after that. I believe your body adapts to the induction and that is why you stop losing when you enter your 3rd to 5th week. What works for me is to make some changes every week now. One week I will do strict induction then the next week I will add a little more veggies and some fruit. I then go back to strict induction again. Think of it this way. If you do the same exercise every day the same way and at the same time of day, your body will get use to it and you will stop seeing any results. Change up your routine a little and your body will start responding again. I feel the 2 week induction is a great way to jump start your metabolism and your fat burning, but to stay on it too long can stall some people. You can also get pretty bored with it. The hardest part for me has been my craving for sweets. I now eat a tsp of natural peanut butter with each meal and I no longer have cravings and am still losing weight.

This isn't my favorite "diet" either but I am proud of myself for today being the sixth day I have not had soda, chocolate or any bread products like muffins, bagels and cookies (this morning I had my first piece of toast with butter - the 15 carbs allowed with a meal.)

I have to say also that I'm frustrated tho because I don't see any size loss and I'm wondering if maybe I ate too much of the "allowed" stuff.

However, I am kicking a major sugar habit and have to believe that in the long run, there are some major benefits to that, if not at least SOME fat loss.

I'm doing Protein power, which allows 55 carbs a day, with a recomended 15 carbs per meal, and it's difficult but not insanely unmanagable.Yesterday I made a western omlete with a side of sausage of 1/2 cup fresh sliced strawberries and the strawberries really gave me the sweet thing I wanted without blowing the plan. Then for lunch, my BF and I made taco meet, threw it over some greens with some spicy peper jack cheese, jalapenos, fresh diced tomato and a dolop of sour cream. SO YUMMY! Again, I think I may have eaten more food that I was supposed to but everything in the ingredients was safe I think.

Protien Power stresses that If you do weight training, you will eventually be able to increase your carbs significantly and not gain weight back, a litle different from what others are saying on this topic. The reason is because if you weight train, your body will take full advantage of the abundance of protein you are giving it and pack on muscle while you loose fat, ultimately changing your body composition. Then I think it really comes down to learning how to enjoy carbs in moderation, actually appreciate those carbs, and not just sit there with a bag of sun chips while your insulin level spikes and your fat cells just sit there and take it.Therefore, maybe you're not "going off the diet" but allowing yourself a great deal more carbs over time with some hard work done in betweeen

Hope that helps, good luck!
