| Hi all, I've been on induction for 1.5 weeks and lost just 1 lb. A little discouraged, I went to have a drink tonight, only to regret more so! *sigh* Any ideas? How much does alcohol impact the fat burn process, and what about sugars? (I think my salad dressing had some in it) Thanx good luck, iReNe 128/125/100 |

| Hi, Irene. A bit of sugar in your salad dressing is not a huge deal, unless you're using a huge amount. Look for those dressings with the lowest carb levels - like 1 to 2 carbs per serving. Then MEASURE the serving, so you know how many carbs you're really getting on your salad. As to alcohol: It's not a good idea in induction. When you've progressed to OWL, you can experiment with spirits, dry wine and/or lc beer, in moderation. Remember these two things about alcohol. While it does not raise your blood sugar, it is a "ready to use" fuel for your body. No work required. When alcohol is available, your body has no need to burn fat, so you interrupt the fat burning process to whatever degree you choose to indulge. The other issue is that judgment is bound to be impaired to one degree or another. A few nuts can more easily become a can, a "bite" of something into a big portion. Awareness and moderation are the key issues here. Maggie 5'1" ~~ Atkins since '98 (160)/Maintaining nicely (110) ~~ Redhead until further notice! |
