I would like to hear experiences from people that are doing this. Is it working for you?
My understanding is that you do low carb for two meals and then you get a salad with your reward meal. Am I right?
I am currently doing Atkins and having a tough time sticking with it so I'm thinking about CAD. When I first started Atkins( about 5 weeks ago) the weight was coming off easily and then it stopped. That's when I got sidetracked and started eating some carbs. It's not out of control yet but I'm sure it can get that way. I have about 15 pounds that I would like to lose to get to my goal. I did Atkins before(after my first baby) and found it so easy. I had a baby this past August and thought well I'll just do the Atkins again and the weight will come off easy again right? Wrong! It's so different this time. I can't truly stick to Atkins and ofcourse the weight isn't coming off. I'm getting frustrated.
I wasn't drinking enough water but now I've told myself that whenever I feed the baby, I have to drink 2 glasses of water. Just started doing this today and that's one thing that has actually worked. The baby eats every 3 hours so I'm getting lots of water now.
Sorry to ramble on a bit here. Hope this all makes sense.
Guess what? The baby needs to be fed and I need to drink my water!
Thanks for all your support and I appreciate any feedback you can give.

If you need information on the CAD/CALP, you would probably get more answers in their forum. Good job on drinking your water. I lost 9 lbs in the first three weeks then I screwed up and have been trying to get fully back on since then. About 3 or so weeks. No more weight lost. Inches (thank goodness) but no weight. I will not say I find this easy because I do not. I am severely addicted to carbs and with my SO not on LC, it makes it more difficult. Good luck

I LOVE this WOE - have been doing it since May and have lost 30 pounds (have lost a total of 45 since January). I do not have a sweet tooth, so it hasn't been all that tough for me, other than no bread. It can be very difficult to keep on track when you stall. I have been stalled since August. I focus on how great I feel when I eat this way, and not gaining anything back! LOL! Greeneyedgirl, since you don't have that much to lose, your weightloss rate may be slower than you expected. Also, because you are still nursing (you probably know this, bear with me), you need to keep your calories a little higher. I, too, had a harder time losing weight after my second baby than my first, but it does come off. I am now back to my pre-pregnancy weight (OK, 4 years later) and feeling fabulous! Keep it up, it'll happen!

Hi Jen. Actually I'm not nursing this time. I did with the first baby and maybe that helped the weight to come off a bit quicker too. I think my problem is that I have been really stressed and find it hard to concentrate on too many things. What do you think?

Laurie,

Yes, stress can be a problem. That's why I gained weight. My suggestion to you would be to check out CAD/CALP. It is much 'simpler' than Atkins. You can see some of my comments about that by clicking on my name (DebbyH) and then click 'View Recent Posts by DebbyH'.

I started CAD/CALP right after my DD's first birthday party and lost about 40 pounds on it. It's a great program... a simple one. The short version is this - 2 LC meals (LC veggies and protein) and one RM (reward meal) that consists of 1/3 protein, 1/3 LC veggies, and 1/3 carbs (arrived at visually).

Let me tell you... it will be much simpler, take less brain power, and hopefully be something that will work for you.

Below's a link to a thread that explains the program in more detail.

You might want to look at some of the other posts in that forum as well.

Good luck to you! Let me know what you decide.

Debby

Laurie- I think you hit the nail on the head. Having two kids is not double the work, more like quadruple! When I had my secon child (kids are three years apart) my husband though I had been invaded by a bodysnatcher! I had had a difficult pregnancy, my son was an enormous eater, so much so I couldn't keep up with him, plus I had to worry about my first son and making sure the transition from only child to sibling went as smoothly as possible. Plus, my boss was PRESSURING me to come back to work early (like I really wanted to return to 12 hour days and 30% travel - yeah, right). I was NUTS! It took me about three months or so to really get in the groove again. But, I did, and you will, too.

Not nursing this time is probably whay you are seeing a difference in the weightloss - milk production is pretty efficient at burning fat reserves. But, you have exercise as an option. That was the one mistake I made after having my second - I didn't get back into exercise as soon as possible. And it made a big difference. I actually ended up with late onset post-partum depression (many factors involved, like crappy job and winter - I am originally from Florida, so seasonal changes really effect me if I am not careful. Looking back, I bet that I could have mitigated the effects some if I had just watched out for me and gotten some exercise. I know now that I just feel better when I get even a 15 minute walk in.

I think you are doing great getting more water in, and paying attention to how you feel right now. You seem to be in a pretty positive frame of mind, and that's really good. See if you can get just a little movement into your day (and not chasing around first child - that is NOT relaxing). Oh, I just had an idea - there are some really great SHORT yoga workouts on tape and DVD that may be just great for you! I think I got them at the Discovery Store (check online).

Anyhoo, sorry for the long post! Keep us posted and good luck!
