    Hello All!

I have been doing my induction for a week and half now, but i have been eating nuts every day and i have been having whipcream (the kind you buy in a bottle and spray out) for the last few days.... i have lost about 4 and a half pounds, but i am wondering if i need to really start over? What do you guys think? I think I am probably averaging about 30 carbs a day the last week because of the nuts.... Any advice would be great! Thanks !

If you are continuing to lose, then I don't think you should have to start over. Maybe you can still eat 30g and lose weight. I am in the second week and I had a handful of nuts today. - my tummy was upset and the thought of meat, made me gag. After eating the nuts I felt pretty good.

The point behind induction is to detox your body. If you have a lot to lose, and find that the nuts (and whiped cream - I would ditch in favor of real whipped cream made with splenda)are fueling your cravings, I would start over. But, if you are comfy with your current progress, then stay the course (still lose the whipped cream, though).

I ate nuts during the second week of Induction and did fine, but the whipped cream is another matter. I suggest making your own with heavy cream and splenda. The purer you get, the better off you'll be, IMHO.

    Good luck, post often.

I always wonder what kind of crud they put in the bottled whipped cream - and the real stuff is sooooooo good, and easy to make with heavy cream, a little splenda and a dash of vanilla.

Daisy - the canned whipped cream is not allowed on induction. Even though it says 1 carb, it's sugar. Definitely take others suggestion and whip your own with heavy cream and splenda. Or buy a creme whipper and it is like having whipped cream from a can. I have one and it's great!

The other problem with the whipped cream in a can is how do you measure 2tbs to get you correct amount.... you usually squart in some and eat whatever you squart (sp).... and that is usually more than 2 tbs.... so... while it says 1 carb per serving, it is hard to measure 2tbs of already whipped cream....

You should be able to get it most anywhere, but I'm in NY, not sure about other parts of the country. If you have a Super Walmart check there, I saw these huge bags of it last weekend for like $6.99.

For 1 cup of cream I put in 1/3 cup of splenda, but it's really your own personal preference. In case you don't know, don't whip it too long, if you do, it'll end up to be sweet butter I did that, the cream had a waxy like texture in your mouth, it was funky. That's where the creme whippers you can buy are cool because you don't have to worry about it getting over whipped.

I'm sure that means 2 level tablespoons, which isn't even really a "dab".

The little milk frothers are great for whipping up just a small amount of cream at one time. You can often buy them for about $10 in catalogs, or $15-20 in cooking stores. Marcie has an article that describes using one to make cocoa: Marcie's frother gadget article

A friend of mine has the big cream whipper, which uses gas cylinders to make aerosol whipped cream at home. You can find those at Williams Sonoma for about $50-60, I think.

I whip out the kithen mixer with a whisk attachment and have whipped cream in a flash. Also, someone mentioned wal-mart, my wal-mart has sugar free davinci syrup, use that instead of packets of splenda if you can find it.

I also assume that if you just discovered during the second week of induction that nuts were a no-no, then you don't own the book. Trust me on this one, buy, borrow, or steal the book if you have to. There is a lot to know besides just the 20-carb-a-day limit
