I know I'm supposed to go through an adjustment period in the first few days of induction but I have been keeping carbs on the low end for a few weeks. I decided to go full force Atkins and have only 20 carbs a day (beginning yesterday) since I have had a number of cheats when I was TRYING to keep carbs at 50 or 60 a day.I noticed the less carbs, the better the appetite supression and that was atractive to me to avoid cheats. Anyway, I remember feeling tired with more carbs per day but I figured it was because my blood had more sugar. My question is, does anyone NOT gain this newfound energy after the first few days of induction? Is it possible that I do not have enough body fat for this type of carb controll? Right now I am 25% body fat and I'm trying to get down to maybe 21% (ya know, the last 10-15 pounds.) Everything I have read tells me that a low carb diet is what the body was meant to follow by nature. So why doe it feel so unnatural? I also did a weight workout monday so should I expect a longer recovery period following this WOE? Usually I am ready to work out again in 2 days time. Others have told me that they have even better workouts following this WOE. I just wonder if my body doesn't want to give up the last 10-15 lbs, even though I was able to do it following a low fat, low calorie diet. ps. 1 gallon of water, 1 multi vitmin, 1 potassium, 1 magnesium & 1 vitamin e per day [This message was edited by pokadotsox on 11-12-03 at 12:36 PM.]

I am guessing you may not have been in ketosis when you were not being really strick and now your body is adjusting. It took me a good 3 days to adjust and once I did I felt great and never looked back. give it a couple more days! 261/231/? (recently re-joined)

Pokadotsox - it all takes a little time to adjust. I went from 29% bodyfat to about 21% and have no trouble recovering from strenuous activity. But, when I first started lowcarb, I felt like crap for about 5 days. Now, I feel like crap when I don't eat lowcarb. My workouts are MUCH more effective then ever before, and I relaly do have tons of energy. Patience, grasshopper, it will all pan in time. Jen 175/130/120

Thank you folks, that is so encouraging to hear. One of the reasons I wanted to do Atkins is BECAUSE of the incresed energy mentioned. I'll just have to drag myself through another couple of days, not give up and see how it goes. I never was a very patient person...lol.
