Hello everyone !

I've heard a lot about low carb eating from friends and coworkers so I've decided to try it out! I've done some research on Atkin's but I'm also hearing a lot about the SBD. I'm going to get the SBD book this weekend (today is Wednesday) but I would still like some input if any. I've chosen December 1 to be my start date so respond away!!!

I know nothing about SBD, so someone else will need to chime in. I do Atkins and I love it. I find it easy to eat this way.

Welcome, Shia98~

You can learn a lot from nosing around this website. I'd also suggest you read Laura Richard's book, "Secrets of Low Carb Success". It provides a comparison of several popular low-carb plans, and will help you decide which approach is best for you.

Educating yourself about this way of eating is crucial to success, so do read and learn as much as you can.

Best wishes,

Sky

South Beach is good , but I hear you kinda stop losing after you start adding new foods in week 3. I did it but only for 3 weeks I lost about 5 pounds.I'm doing atkins now the food is a little easier for me to prepare.

Ditto the Laura Richard book. Good overview.

For me, Atkins is the simplest. Variety picks up quickly after induction. When it comes to making recipes, you can be as creative as you want--or not.

I do Atkins and LOVE it!

I can't tell you anything about the South Beach Diet. Informing yourself and reading up on the different LC plans available will help you decide what may work best for you. I think it really depends on your personality, needs and your expectation from this lifestyle. Just do remember, that it is not a quick fix and should be seen as a lifestyle instead of a "diet". Diet to me implies, that it is done just for a period of time, while LCing is a change in lifestyle.

Good luck, and don't hesitate to ask questions!

Never give up! Never surrender!

Hi,

I was on Atkins and now I am on SBD and I love it. I find SBD easy to follow for me and I am also watching my fat grams as well. Since I have started to watch my fat grams 2 1/2 weeks ago I have lost a total of 11 pounds and 15 inches. I feel great!

Just read upon your information and do what you feel will work for you. We are all different. Good luck to you!

I am doing Atkins, although........I don't know if it's strict Atkins anymore. I just don't eat processed carbs anymore. I guess I am doing Low-Carb period. I don't count my carbs anymore.....just know what's allowed and what's not. It's good to follow SOMEone's plan, so you can shift your mindset and learn what's allowed and what is not. I would get Laura Richard's book too, so you can figure out which one will work best for you. I doubt though that the SBD is in there yet, it's so new. Good luck in choosing the best plan for yourself. At any rate, keep coming here to this board, we are ALL PLAN friendly.
