Just dropped in to introduce myself. I am a 35 year old female from sunny South Africa. I have picked up about 10kg (roughly 22 pounds) over the winter season and with summer on my doorstep desperately need to lose the excess to reach my goal weight of 129 pounds. Having just started I don't have any comments about following the low carb diet yet. The only thing I can say is a feeling of overwhelming lethargy, but having read some info this seems to be normal. Apparently not everybody feels a surge of energy from day one. So here's what I'm hoping is the road to my great summer bod. Will keep you posted.

Cheers guys

Good Luck with it!

I'm now in week 2 of the Atkins diet and while I've cheated on both Saturdays, I feel better in myself.

Oh and welcome to the board.

Hi Charmaine, and welcome!

I'm Staci, 36, from Arizona. Yes, a bit of lethargy is completely normal while your body adjusts and detoxes. Just take it easy for a while, make sure you take your vitamins, eat your veggies and drink LOTS of water.

I, too, was really gung-ho and in a hurry to drop 30 lbs., but I have realized I am a slow loser. I just don't want you to get discouraged if the weight doesn't come off as fast as you'd like. It may, but if not, I bet you'll discover the many other benefits to this program. This is a wonderful way of eating, and I wouldn't go back for anything. But I've also learned that it just wasn't the quick fix I was hoping for.

Best of luck to you. Everyone here is great for support and advice! Again, welcome!

Staci

Hi Charmaine.

You've found a great source of information and support here. You'll find a large number of people, each with different experiences in this way of eating.

Make yourself at home!

Charmaine You'll be suprised how fast that tired feeling goes away. I'm walking 2 to 3 miles on the treadmill, and at first I didn't think I'll be able to workout at all eating this way. Just hang in there it gets better. I'm 145 and aiming for about the same goal as you are 130 maybe 125, we'll see when I get there.Good Luck you can do it!!
