| Hi Everyone! I finished Day 1 Induction! YIPPEE!! Now on to the rest. I had a pretty good day, but I can tell when my problem times are going to be. Later on in the evening. I had two fried eggs w/ butter and 4 pieces of bacon for breakfast, 3 slices of thin swiss cheese topped with lettuce, turkey and mayo for lunch, celery and ranch w/pepperoni for snack 1 and a handful of slivered almonds for snack 2, and beef sausage, cauliflower casserole, and salad for dinner. All in all I had around 20 carbs. I'm scared to start "obsessing" about the carb count since I usually lose steam a lot faster when I get gung-ho. I ate a lot of fatty meats, but it was what sounded good and I didn't want to start saying no yet. I also went to the gym and did 10 min. on the elliptical, 2 sets on circuit training, and 30 min. on the treadmill for a total of just under 4 miles. That elliptical kicks my butt!! Here is today's projected menu... Breakfast- 2 eggs, 2 slices of bacon Lunch- tuna with celery, mayo, lettuce, and pepper with some leftover cauliflower casserole Dinner- salad, chicken w/mushrooms and onions, asparagus I plan on going to the gym as well since it will be closed tomorrow. I did drink about 1/2 my water, which is an ordeal I must say! I'll have to work up to it. I need to get it in before I start teaching again next week! Sorry for the ramblings!! Have an awesome day! 5'3 194/?/140 My age ?, nah, my personality! |

| Hi Georgia. Congrats on your first day! I totally know what you mean about getting too gung ho about the actual # of carbs. I have to do the same, in just eating all the stuff I'm allowed, and not stressing about the #. I love my water. I never have a hard time getting it all in (most of the time). Keep at it. It'll get easier. Progress not perfection... progress not perfection |

I think it's good to get some experience counting carbs, but I know how obsessed I can be about numbers and record-keeping and that "gung-ho" thing has ruined me before. It's possible to do this without actually counting your carbs. I do it. It just requires that you stay aware of what you're eating and whether or not you're in ketosis. ************** "Sometimes I think you have to march right in and demand your rights, even if you don't know what your rights are, or who the person is you're talking to. | I agree about trying not to get obsessed with carb counting. I will keep close count for a while, but then notice that the process is occupying WAY to much of my time and energy! For me, it's important that I find other things to think about than food - and that is very difficult if I'm wrapped up in counting and tracking carbs. So, I'm trying to find a happy medium where I am aware of what I can and do eat, but not so obsessed with it. If this is a lifetime WOE, it needs to feel natural and comfortable. Staci |

| I counted carbs in the beginning to get my mind acclimated to what's allowed, portions size and all that. Now I know what to do like it's second nature to me and no longer count carbs. I just know what's appropriate. If you need to obsess on it for a little while, that's okay. Then you can lighten up and go on your merry way. That's just what works for me. If I get into a BIG stall, I go back to counting my carbs for a couple of days, just to get a handle on things. So, you may want to do that too. Just a suggestion. | I just wanted to say I agree with Barb in that in the beginning I think it is okay to be a little obsessive about the counts. I know that for me my portion control was and still is an issue, so for me I really needed to measure things out so I could see what a cup of somehting looked like as opposed to what I thought. It was actually very helpful for me to be really into what I was eating those first few weeks, all in all counting was a real learning experience for me. So while I agree with others you dont want to worry about a number forever, in the beginning its not such a bad thing. Welcome fellow peach! Leasa |
