I just wanted to say "hello" to all those other low-carbers out there. I'm happy to have found this site, maybe it will help me stay on track.
I've been following Atkins for over two years and am pleased to say that I've succeeded in my goals, and in fact have surpassed them (yay!!!) I have slipped a little in the last few months, and have found myself at ground zero, back in induction to lose the ten or so pounds I've collected. I'm looking forward to meeting others who need some support, and I'm happy to give advice to anyone who has questions.

I started way back when at about 170lbs, and after about 10 months found myself at 115 lbs. That was a little too thin (or so people constantly told me). I gradually got back to about 120 and maintained there for over a year. I attempted to quit smoking in August and put on a whopping 15 pounds. Unfortunately, I'm still smoking, and that is my cliche new year's resolution, but for now I'm concentrating on getting back into the groove of low carbs. So far so good, I'm down three pounds since I started last Thursday. HOORAY!!!

WELCOME Erika!!!! It's great to have you with us!! Good luck with the quiting smoking. That's a monkey on my back that I am going to try to conquer once I reach my goal weight. I know it would have been very difficult to try and do that AND lose weight at the same time. I'm afaid I would sabotage myself. Good luck reaching your desired goal weight. And please, share your experience with the newbies here, they will need the help!!!! As newbies at one time, we know how hard it can be sometimes.

Erika,
I just wanted to let you know that you can quit smoking! I thought it would be the hardest thing to do and kept putting it off. My DH quit a full year before I did and let me tell ya, NOTHING is worse then an ex-smoker! He kept telling me to quit and I would tell him when an if I was ready to I would! Well I finally tried about 8 months into DH's smoke free life and it sucked...bad! I started again or never really quit...depends on who you ask.

I found that after reading about smoking on some websites I desided I didn't want anything to have that much control over me. After all, my body is the temple of God. He doesn't like to be covered in smoke.

Ok, here is the trick I used... (worked like a charm)
I desided that I would only smoke outside. I started this in January in Ohio! Ever since DH quit, I stood in the foyer and smoked out the door. I found I didn't want to get bundled up to go outside and after about a month it was all over. No withdraws. (I think cuz I tapered off) That was almost 2 years ago. Now I'M the ex-smoker Hahaha!!
