| I had a friend who had to quit this Atkins diet because he says he almost passed out playing soccer one day because of it. I play a lot of basketball and I am wondering where the body gets it's energy from since the carbs that it normally uses aren't available anymore. I know from past experience that when I really start to work out, I naturally get hungry all the time. I see this as being a potential problem... Oh, and one more thing... I had to pee like every 10 minutes today all day long! It got very annoying. I've heard this gets better as time goes on (not having to go as much, is this true?) | Welcome, Spyyro. You've found a wonderful community with much information and support. I think the first thing you'll need to do on your journey is to do some reading, so you understand the principles underlying a low carb way of eating. I don't know of any dietary regimen that will give you the spot reducing you're looking for, but any low carb regimen is designed to burn fat while sparing muscle. I hope you'll explore the various low carb plans available and pick one to start off with. Then read the book. It will be your road map to your new lifestyle. Keep us posted on your progress. | What Maggie said. There's no such thing as "spot" reducing. The body takes the fat from wherever it wants to. You can tighten up the midsection with various exercise routines--notably with Pilates and kickboxing (which also burns a powerful amount of calories/fat). You shouldn't have an energy problem with a low-carb program properly followed. Best wishes! P. S. Mind if I say--kick the Xenadrine? With or without ma huang, it's at best worthless, at worst, dangerous. Barb L. Started Atkins January 2003 162/137/130 |

| I think you will notice a dip in your aerobic endurance for a few days in the begining. You shouldn't take this as a sigh of the way LCing makes you feel. It is a phase, a short phase while your body adjusts. All in all, I think most here would agree that thier energy level has increase on this WOL. But I will admitt that the first few times I tried to work out, I felt low on energy. |
