What a good feeling! My DH is doing this WOE also, and we are both amazed at how this is working! Keep us the good work, and keep reading the boards..I would be lost without them.. | Hi Amy, I can't tell you how great it feels!! I have a nieces wedding on Oct. 25th, and I bought my dress last week..I also needed a few outfits for rehersal dinner, etc..I could not believe I fit into a size 10 pants..Before I started eating low carb, I was a 14, pushing a size 16! Basically, my meals are as follows: Breakfast - 2 Egg Omelette with Cheese..sometimes bacon or sausage...2 Cups of Coffee with Cream.. 1 16OZ Bottle of Water Lunch is either a large salad with Tuna, Mayo, Blue Cheese Dressing, or, it we are out, we have Wendys Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger, minus the bun, and a side salad with blue cheese dressing.. 1 16OZ. Bottle of Water Snack - Either a few pork rinds, a few nuts, and another bottle of water.. Dinner is either steak, chicken, fish, pork, with a salad, and also lots of veggies, (either stirfryed or steamed) broccoli, zucchini, peppers, green beans. Another Bottle of Water.. Snack - Celery with a small amount of cream cheese or peanut butter, usually another 2 bottles of water. It was hard for me in the beginning to get all my water in, but now I actually look forward to it.. Good luck and let me know how you are doing.. Tina |

| I'm encouraged to hear that you were able to overcome your struggle with water. That is one of my biggest problems right now. I do drink gallons of iced herbal tea, so I guess i am taking in liquids. "You are only old when you stop learning, whether at twenty or at eighty" -Henry Ford I'm learning every day!-Karimah |

| Hi Tina... Well I've had a monumentally bad day. It all started off ok. For the past few days I have been really, really craving carbs - bad ones. My Keto stix just will not change color no matter how hard I try. I have been on induction since about 8/17/03. I had lost 20 pounds. I got my period and my system just went haywire. I was up like 7 pounds from that. Now I'm over my period and 5 of the 7 went away. I was able to stave off my cravings during PMS week. I have been really sticking to induction rules to the letter for the past week. (I had a party last weekend (10/4/03)and people brought wine and junk food..I indulged) But I went right back on it the next day. Anyhow, I cannot get the other 2 pound off from my period week. I walk everyday or I do Tae-Bo, or I get on my ellyptical machine. I usually only take thursdays off from exercising. I walked 6 miles on Sunday, did Tae-bo Monday, walked 4 miles today. Been to the letter on the rules of induction. I have GAINED another pound. I lost it today. I had pita bread with my salad, then I had a big, fat coffee roll then I had Wendy's fried chicken sandwich WITH french fries, then I had 8, yes 8, chocloate chip cookies. Now I feel sick and I'm so disappointed with myself. Water is not a problem with me. I drink it all day long. I really need help. My friend who was doing Atkins with me has stopped doing it. I need to have a 2 week period where I can just do induction all over again. I am very upset that I cheated SO HORRIBLY!!! Did you have days like this? Right now, my size 18's are actually hanging off me. I used to be a very fit size 7 and weighed 137. Now I weigh 215 and I am so disgusted right now. Please let me know what to do! I know that I've wrecked all the hard work I have put in so far. HHHEEELLLLPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Amy S. |

| Hi Amy, I started around the same time you did, I started on Aug. 21st..For me, the first week was the hardest, and I did feel lousy..But, I did get through it and believe me, there are times I have really been tempted, but I haven't given in to temptation..When I have my period, I crave sweets terribly..One night, I really needed something and I remembered that someone on these posts talked about Mock Danish..So, I posted a note asking for the recipe..I immediately went into the kitchen and made one, and let me tell you, it was wonderful and very satisfying..It was so good that I felt guilty eating it.. Good Luck, you will do it!! Please keep me posted and if I can help with any other menu ideas, etc., please let me know.. Take Care Tina |

| Amy, don't put too much credit in those stix. I've been low carbing for over 2 years and don't even bother with them any more. I almost NEVER show a dark color on those things even when I'm being perfect. Truly, some people don't register on them. Toss them. As for induction, you have been on it too long! You need to immediately raise your carb levels to 25 grams a day. After a week or two, increase it up to 30 a day, etc. Just make sure you increase your carbs mostly in veggies. Stay clear of too many refined carbs even if they are in the form of low carb products. Add extra veggies in for breakfast, have snacks of veggie sticks and dip, have extra veggies in salads at lunch, and have a double serving of veggies at dinner. You can also add in a few nuts here and there or a little little extra cream now and then. Another good way to add a few carbs and get some fiber are the low carb tortillas. A small one has 11 carbs with 8 of them being fiber. That's only 3 net carbs to count towards your total. I wouldn't recommend having too many in one day (or necessarily having one every day) but they can be a great way to add a little variety, and fiber, to your woe. | THanks guys. MarcieLynn, I haven't had a 2 week period that I have been absolute in the induction phase. When I first started there were 2 weddings I went to one each weekend and I went off. There have been family events - good and bad - that have forced me to go off plan. Now I have a wedding this weekend. But my family does it like this...fri night there will be a good luck meal, sat is the wedding, sunday is a big brunch. So there have been really no 2 week periods of being on induction fully. Plus I wanted to wait until I got under the 200 pound mark (like 199.5!!) to go into the continued weight loss phase. Do you think I should skip the waiting? Or do you think I should give a good 2 week go of induction again? I personally would like to give a good 2 week go after the wedding this weekend, then move on to CWL. I would love to get your opinion (and any others) on this. I have to say, I am really thankful to the people here. What a great support system this is. AmyS p.s. I have another question, I want to post my own picture as an avatar, how do I go about doing that? |

|
quote:
I want to post my own picture as an avatar, how do I go about doing that?

Amy, i've been looking for the post we had on this, but i can't find it. you will need to have a small photo and get it resized down to 48x48 pixels (or as close as you can get it to those dimentions) you will also have to have it hosted on line somewhere. Alex, our resident photo/PC guy - has been hosting these, cropping and resizing these in the past. once you get a URL for your avatar, you will have to go into your preference/profile and add the link in the provided box. (its been a while since i've been in there - so those directions may not be exact... but someone who is on the ball this morning will jump in with the way to do it, if i'm wrong.) **oh yeah... bump for Marcie too** My LC web site LCE Member since 12/00 |

| I just want to chime in for a minute. This board has been a great support tool for me too-I just ended my first week of "re-induction" trying to bust a long stall. I've been very focused on just eating what I felt was right and drinking enough water (between 100-120 oz.). I do find that since I don't have that much to lose it is definitely harder to make something happen but this week I've had my first "whoose" ever-3 lbs. fell off. Yippee!! I'm going to do one more week of induction, drink all the water I can, and then see where I am. I started at 154 in Feb. and want to get to 135 by 11/7-from there who knows but that would feel wonderful. I have only 6 more lbs. to go to make that goal. I've been re-invigorated by going back to the basics--and it worked!.. All the posts I've been reading have really given me new ideas. Thanks to all. I'm good to go for the long haul now. janell |
