| My dad has been on the induction phase for 7 days. We've been eating eggs, beef, ham, turkey, and green veggies. Today he has lost his appetite, and isn't eating much. Is this normal? Thanks Julie |

| Julie, YES!!! One of the side benefits of this WOL (way of living) is appetite control. You should not go long periods of time without eating, and I understand that if you are not hungry, it's hard to eat sometimes. But going 3-4 hours without eating should be the limit. Try to get your dad to snack on raw veggies and dip, or a hard boiled egg, or a couple of ham slices with cream cheese flavored with green onion or chopped olives or something like that. At least have a snack if not a full blown meal during the "off-meal" times. But the bottome line is, this WOL suppresses appetite, especially if you have increased fat intake. Fat is VERY satisfying to the appetite. HTH (hope this helps) Barb Atkins-3/14/03 174/146/135 5'2" "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing." Knowledge is POWER |

| Losing your appetite is one of the main points of the diet. Less appetite = less total food eaten over time = less weight. ************** "Sometimes I think you have to march right in and demand your rights, even if you don't know what your rights are, or who the person is you're talking to. | That's one of my big problems, especially on weekends, I'm not hungry and I don't eat. I sometimes have to force myself to eat something. But then there are the occasional days when I'm really hungry and eat eat eat (all low carb tho') |

| I find that if I eat a good breakfast, I stay pretty stable the rest of the day. If I don't eat, say within an hour of getting up, I become ravenous and want to eat everything in sight. (I don't, but want to) So the trick is to eat a good breakfast....to avoid daylong ravenousness (is that word?, LOL) ![]() Barb - 30 lbs gone FOREVER! | Yeah, in my experience, that's normal. When I get going and am "eating clean" for, say, five days or more, I sometimes hafta force myself to eat. Barb's correct when she says that this way of life suppresses the appetite. And it does it without any drugs. Ain't that great? | Ditto on the above...I've had the same experience doing this! It's really weird to forget to eat or to have to make yourself eat, but I'm not complaining! "Normal is in the eye of the beholder." Atkins since 8/27/03 240/209(140-160) |
