Hey guys,

I've been doing pretty good with my re-induction (on day 9!) but got slammed yesterday with the flu and a nasty cough.

Been drinking lots of water and sucking on chicken broth. Any other ideas out there for LC stuff I can have that's easy on the tummy and throat??

Water's perfect and adding some chicken broth is perfect. It'll help keep your electrolytes in balance.

Eggs come to mind.

- Make a mock danish, but don't nuke it until it's solid, and stir once part way through. Chill it and it will be like a custard.

- Beat one up and pour it into your chicken broth while it's simmering - Egg drop soup.

- If you've got a blender, cream of anything soup. Using your chicken broth, cook some cauliflower or broccoli or spinach or whatever, with some diced onion. When the veggie is soft, run the whole thing through your blender, then reheat adding cream, salt & pepper, to taste.

HTH! Feel better soon!

Kristen,
I can relate been trying to fight off the same thing. I have really liked the EAS Advant Edge Carb Control drinks. They are helpful when you need something in your stomach especially to take your meds. You can find the drinks at Walmart. The Fruit Citrus Splash is the best flavor when you have been use to the OJ. Today I had the dark chocolate in a mug and warmed it in the microwave and it felt so good to on the sore throat area. Hope this is helpful it sure is so me.
Stay Well!

Mary/Maggie,

thanks for the ideas. A fellow LC friend suggested to drink up hot jello, supposedly really coats the throat. However, gotta watch that aspartame. Does the whole country have this stinking flu? I feel like everybody's sick!

Here's a homemade jello recipe that you could drink before solidifying. It's very tasty.

Hope you feel better SOON!!!!

Homemade Jello

1 envelope of unflavored Gelatin
1/2 envelope of unsweetened Kool-aid, in the flavor of your choice
3/8 cup + 1 tsp. Splenda
1 cup boiling water
1 cup cold water

Dissolve Gelatin in boiling water thoroughly. Add remaining ingredients and mix thoroughly. Chill in idividual cups or in one big bowl, overnight.

A whole packet of Kool-aid is too intense, so adjust to your own taste.

Great suggestions above! My favorite drink for a sore throat is chamomile tea (herbal)...it is very mild in flavor and very soothing!! It is actually very good for an upset tummy too!

Also, if you are in need of cough/cold meds, look for the ones suitable for diabetics...there are more and more of these available...and sugar-free cough drops too.

HTH!
Feel better soon!
