Hi all,
Well, It is the beginning of a new year and I have to do something about my weight. I have gained about 25 lbs. the last three years after a hysterectomy. I am on hormones and wondering if it is just impossible to lose weight. Have tried Weight Watchers with a little success. I have to admit this way of eating goes against everything I have ever believed about healthy eating ! But I am willing to give a good try. I have several friends who have lost weight and have inspired me.
My biggest concern is ...I can not stand eggs in any way.....What can I eat for breakfast? I would like to have some typical menus for a few days to see what I should be eating for induction..... And a good shopping list to get me started. Any other helpful hints for snacks, etc would be greatly appreciated. If I can do this for 2 weeks, I know I will be on my way!!
Thanks,
Rose

Welcome Rose

What eating plan are you following?
Suggestion for snacks, etc. will vary depending on which plan you chose.

Have you read the beginer's guide yet?
There's a link at the top left of the page, next to the LCE logo.

Good luck!

Always eat your veggies first!

I have read several articles on this site and a friend of mine is letting me borrow her Atkins book and I have bought the Atkins carb counter. So I guess I am following Atkins. Was also wondering about the differences in all the lc diets......and is Atkins the most popular and why some choose one of the other? Sorry so many questions, I just want to start off on the right track !!
Thanks again,
Rose

Reading the book is very, very important. For now, here's a link to the Atkins Nutritional site and their list of foods for induction. I use that list to make my grocery lists. Acceptable Foods

I think a lot of people start with Atkins because it's been around the longest and more people have heard of it, but it's not always the best plan to chose, depending on your lifestyle, health issues and such. An excellent book that compares a lot of the different plans is called The Secret To Low Carb Success by Laura Richard.

And about the eggs...

There's no reason to stick to traditional breakfast foods. It's just important that you eat something. You can eat anything from the list of acceptable foods. I usually have leftovers from the night before or yogurt topped with mixed nuts (ok once you're past induction). We used to have a topic with lots of suggestions called something like if I ever see another egg... I'll see if I can find it for you.

Things I eat frequently for breakfast besides eggs:

Tuna salad.

Bacon.

Farmer John Polish Sausage. (yummm...)

Fried breakfast ham.

Pork chops.

Eggs aren't so bad if you dress them up with cheese or salsa. Try making an avocado bacon cheese omelette.
