I am back after being off the woe for about five years. i lost from 198 down to 140. Now after a couple of years and baffling peri-menopause, i am back reading at this new site. I am now 160. I about the postassium for the leg cramps. I had leg cramps awful bad. I lost my Dr. Atkins book. I kind of know it by heart. Please let me know the vitimans i need to take. I plan to begin in the morning. Big question. On induction, how many carbs can i have, and no more than. I remember eating those fried salmons with crushed skins instead of meal or flour. I know i am going to gain because of menopause, i must start right way. thanks for your help. i plan to read more tomorrow on this site. thanks again.
160 now
140 goal
p.s. another thing i remember, is how flat my stomach felt while on atkins. i could tell just as good when i would cheat, i would feel bloated, like i do now.

Menny,

Welcome to the boards!

There has been quite a bit that has changed in the Dr. Atkins books in the last 5 years. So really it would be in your best interest to pick up a new copy. Until then you can to the the atkin web site at www.atkins.com.

As for the leg cramps I don't get them unless I eat HC foods. Yeah.. I'm a bit backwards! LOL

I still think that you mantained your weight really well and you should be proud of yourself!

Oh.. the carb count starts at 20 net carbs now. The atkins site has a list of acceptable foods on there site too help you in that area too. Good luck! Were here for ya!

On the old board we had a running theory going that if you got leg cramps it would soon follow with a WHOOOSH. (weight loss) I still get them when I lose. I just had one the other night and lost almost 2 lbs the next day. So we were kinda lookin forward to them,

I agree, get a copy of the NEW Diet Revolution. They are in paperback and not too expensive. And read up here and at the site Tanya mentioned. There's lots to read at the beginnings of the thread and at the tops of the pages.

Welcome aboard and glad to have you with us!!!!

It may help to start a pottasium supplement. That is what my doctor said was causing mine. Due to no longer eating oranges, bannana's etc.

Hey Barb, I didn't know they were related to the woosh fairy. Had I known that I would not have cursed so much. Those darn things hurt. I get them in my feet too. OUCH!

This is actually a misconception. You get more lots more potassium from, for example, 1/2 cup of cooked spinach (286 mg) than from a medium banana (25 mg). So repeat after me:

Eat those leafy green veggies!!

(source:USDA food nutrients database)

Always eat your veggies first!
