This is just a friendly reminder to newbies and not-so-newbies to make sure you get a minimum of 3 cups of "legal" vegetables each day.

I spoke to someone in my office that tried LC and quit after 3 weeks because she was tired of nothing but meat and cheese. She said, "I miss lettuce and broccoli."

!!!!!

I sent her to read up on low carbing - and told her that veggies are VITAL to the success of the plan....

....and I thought that while I was at it, I'd remind you all too!

(BTW: I subscribe to the no-limit-legal-veggies-after-induction philosophy: after all, no one ever got fat eating cauliflower!)

Cheers,
Emelia

Em, I agree with you 100%!!!

There should be no limit on legal veggies and that has been my philosophy for some time.

WHEN is the word going to get out that this is NOT a "MEAT AND CHEESE" diet???
Aaarrrghhh!!!

Thanks for helping to spread the word!

Couldn't agree more. One thing to note though is That when Dr. Atkins revised his program to subtract the fiber from the carbs, he never revised the 3 cups veggie rule. So if you choose your veggies wisely you can have 5 or more cups per day and still stay within induction level carbs.

Hhhrrummmph!!!! It just tickle my funny bone when people think they can't have veggies, oh my goodness. I would just die (maybe literally) without my veggies, oh I love them soooooo much. Nothin better than sittin down with a bunch of cut up veggies and a really yummy full fat dip and snarfin' YUM YUM!!!!

BTW, the foodnetwork is airing a most awesome show about LC, check this out: Food Network-LC show

My mother-in-law has read the book and everything but the only veggies she eats are lettuce and tomatoes. What's her problem? Where are the other great veggies at?
I love them!
I started over yesterday and lost 4lbs. Yah!

You'll find a complete list of allowed foods at the Atkins site.
