Hi all, this is the second time I've gone LC. First time in 2002, I was very successful and lost 23 pounds in 15 weeks. This time, no results yet at all. My goal is 30 lbs, my current weight is 160. I'm drinking between 48-64oz of water a day, and staying below 20 carbs. My only thought is that maybe I'm not eating enough food per day, or not enough protein per day. Yesterday, my menu consisted of:

Bfst:
small decaf coffee with 1/2 & 1/2
3 slices of bacon
1 egg

Snack:
atkins morning start bar

lunch:
chef salad with ranch dressing, grilled chicken, cheese, almonds and cucumbers

snack:
3 pieces of cheese
green olives

dinner:
small steak
sauteed mushrooms
creamed brussel sprouts

Any ideas? is there just not enough protein tucked in there? HELP!

What method are you using to calculate your daily carb count? You might try www.fitday.com

It's difficult to say whether you're eating enough. How tall you are and frame size makes a difference in how much protein you should eat.
Then there is teh Atkins Morning Start bar you mention as a snack. If you read some old posts you'll come across countless stories of stalls being caused by this kind of item. Odds are it has glycerine or Sugar alcohols like maltitol which for many of us can have a similar effect on blood as regular sugar. If you see anything that says "impact carbs" on it, be very wary or run like H***. I do.

I'm sure others will have some suggestions about your menu.

Me, a skeptic? I trust you have proof.

I'm using fitday.com to calculate LC, and I'm on atkins. The breakfast bar I had yesterday I try to limit myself to those no more than 1x a week. It said it had 1g of sugar alcohol and 6 of fiber, so I didn't think it was all that bad.

My height is 5.4, and I have a medium frame. I'm having difficulty eating every 4 hours because all the water makes me feel so full! Thanks for any help and suggestions.

I see a couple things:

Skip the atkins bar. Make sure you're getting either 3 cups of salad a day or 2 cups of salad and 1 cup of another legal veggies. Watch cheese-no more than 3-4 oz. per day. And almonds and other nuts shouldn't be introduced until OWL.

I think what the problem might be is that I'm eating too many veggies. I don't eat nuts, even on OWL, cuz I just don't like the taste. No problem giving up the bars, it's just challenging to keep eating all the time when I'm not hungry.

Ditch the bars.
Up your veggies (way up....at the very least, 3 cups per day)
Be patient.

My two cents...

I am eating 3 cups a day of veggies most days, and I only had that one bar the one time this week cuz I thought I'd try it. Does anyone see anything radically wrong with what I'm trying, or will this just take a few weeks to do anything?
