Boy am I glad you're all here to help me! I bought myself some Brown 'n Serve sausage links, got them home and found they have 2g. carbs in 3 links, but they also have 1g sugar, which is what worries me. Can I still eat them during Induction? It's seems to me that it's almost impossible to avoid every single gram of sugar that's in food.

Eating natural, unprocessed food is always your best bet. That said, I use sometimes use sausages, hot dogs, and other meats that sometimes have 2-3 grams of carbs in them. Just be sure you count them toward your daily total of 20.

I would go ahead and eat them...but there are some sausages out there that have better numbers....check out the backs of all the availabe ones at your store. Don't forget to read the ingredients, not just the nutritional information.

I would probably go ahead and eat them and next time read every label to find the best. This is the reason I only eat sausages I make myself from pork I grind myself. Also the reason I rarely eat sausages-who has that kind of time? lol

There are so many kinds of sausage that there's no way to tell what is in it without reading the label. Costco's Italian sausages have no preservatives or sugar and seem to be a good choice. They have 10 grams of fat, 15 of protein, and 1 gram of carbs.

I eat Brown-n-serve sausages all the time. I've eaten a mountain of them in the past year.

Another good one, my newest favorite that's replaced it, is Farmer John's Polish Sausage.

I don't sweat a little bit of sugar, as long as it's a very little bit.

Hi maz,
I agree with Doc. I also eat them. Usually, I will cook up the whole box, then put them in a baggie in the fridge and eat them like every other morning. Also, if I eat them for breakfast, then I really try not to snack on them during the day. It's a YMMV (your mileage may vary) thing. Also, stay away from the breakfast meats labeled "maple" anything. Usually the carb count is alot higher in those.
Good Luck; hope you are doing good!

Try Jimmy Dean's Fresh Taste Fast links and/or patties. These go in the microwave for 1 minute and taste very good, better than the brown and serve.

3 links = 0 carbs, 0 sugars
2 patties = 0 carbs, not sure about sugars

Kmoore, what part of the chicago area are you from? I'm in the far west burbs.

Yeah, don't sweat the carbs in those sausages right now. Finish them up and read the pckg next time before you buy anymore. Just make sure you keep it to one serving during induction and count those carbs.

Barb,
I live in the City and I work downtown. I have seen you mention the lunch dates but I could never make it.

Awwww, too bad. I don't know if any of the others would be willing to come into Chicago. It kinda scares me a bit. Maybe when this lovely Chicago winter weather breaks. Who knows???
