Yes, that's me too. I want to lose 145lbs. I'm just in my first week and I've already dropped 15lbs. This is a little scary!! I trust the research though and will continue. BTW, why am I still so tired, especially after eating? Am I eating too much fat? (I had some tuna salad and a salad with Lettuce, Tom, and cucmbers--all homemade)

Wow! 15 pounds! That's really a lot. I just finished my first week and I lost 5 pounds. I'll settle for that.

I am not sure why you are still so tired. Are you drinking water and taking vitamins?
hopefully, one of the administrators will come back in and give you an answer.. If not, make a post. They are all really great at answering questions.

congrats on teh 15 pounds!

Good luck all!!

Thanks Seesko, you're my hero!
Yes, I'm drinking about 92 oz. of water and all the suggested vitamins from Atkins. Maybe it's just my boring job!! :-)

Fatigue is NORMAL in the first weeks of this WOL. Your body is not only re-adjusting to its new fuel source, ketones, but is also detoxing. The amount of time this takes to get over varies with each individual. It took me a good 3 weeks to really get over it. I noticed a jump in energy after I moved onto OWL and began adding back MORE veggies, berries and nuts. It also depends on how toxic you were before you started this. As your body cleanses and becomes more efficient at burning alternate sources of fuel, you should begin to feel better and better. Keep drinking your water, it's critical for the cleansing process. Keep taking your vitamins as well. Give it time and you won't believe the energy you WILL have eventually. Your beginning weight loss if FABULOUS!!!! Hang in there.

Thanks, Barb! It makes me feel better to know that I'm on the right track. I like the sound of that--cleansing and detoxifying!

Cherub, sounds like you are off to a great start, especially having lost 15 lbs already. Make sure you are eating ALL the allowed veggie amounts per day that your plan says. A lot of people figure if 20 carbs are good then 10 is better. NOT!!!! Your body adjusts to that lowered amount and becomes very efficient at turning protein into glucose. So it's better to vary it and stay at the 20g level in the beginning. I don't know anyone who gained weight eating veggies.
Oh and if you are doing Atkins, don't worry about your fat grams for now. The interesting thing about dietary fat is that it is VERY appetite satisfying and therefore appetite suppressing. PLUS, when your body uses ketones as a fuel source, that also suppresses appetite. How cool is that?????
