I can't keep my big butt oiff the scale and now im getting a weee bit frustrated. I thought I had lost 11 or 12 pounds but now it says only 7 or 8. Today is the first day of the second week of induction.... I am eating 20 carbs a day, a variety... veggies, cheese, etc.. and lots of meats: chicken, pork, etc...

Should I look at my food choices more closely or stay off the scale?

I'm not depressed or anything, just a little ticked at letting myself think I lost 12 pounds in one week.

Thanks!

Mike

Remember, water weight can fluctuate alot during the day and while women are usually the most prone to this, it can effect men as well.

Also remember that one gallon of water weighs several pounds (6 or 8 I think, I forgot exactly!) so just drinking your minimum water during the day can put pounds on you.

As far as the scale, you really shouldn't weigh yourself too often. Once a day MAX. And make sure it's at the same time and under the same circumstances each day.

Alot of people just weigh once a week which is probably best but I must admit, I weigh once a day in the morning.

You shouldn't expect to lose more than a pound or two a week, realistically. Many don't lose even that quickly.

Patience! How long did it take to gain the weight?

Deep cleansing breaths and STAY OFF THE SCALE. That's the best advice....
However...if you happen to be a little compulsive, and no matter how hard you argue with yourself, you still step on the scale whenever you pass it, here are some other choices....
1) Put it away, preferably behind or under something (with a lock on it ) The problem is that you tend to get your scale out of whack by moving it.
2) Cover it with a towel...at least you'll realize you're being compulsive, and it doesn't look quite so inviting.
3) Go ahead and weigh yourself silly, but PROMISE yourself to only record your weight 1x/week, e.g. give yourself an "official" weigh in day.

Good luck and DON'T get discouraged :-)

Mike, stay off the scale. Only weigh once a week if that.

Get a tape measure and measure yourself instead. Write that down in a journal. And only measure every two weeks or so. Not everyday.

Patience, my dear, patience.

Get rid of the scale.

Literally.

Just get it out of the house. Stick it in the garage or something. Just weigh yourself once per month. Once per week, if you must. Circle a date on your calendar for weighing, and just weigh then.

You'll be glad you did.

Ok :-) I will hide the scale or take it apart or something to keep off of it. I will try finding a few key dates on my calendar and weighing in then.

Thanks Everyone!

Mike I too cannot resist weighing myself. Although while I am losing I don't mind. I know when I hit a plateau it will be very diffficult.
Looks like we started the same day and are about the same weight, so we can give each other some moral support along the way. I am determined to get to the same weight I was at age 20 which may be a very lofty goal.
