Oh my goodness! I made some of this today - It is awesome!! My kids love it. They are eating it like crazy. The only thing I did differently is I only had Designer Whey Protein in Vanilla. So, I added it instead of the Soy Protein. YUM! Thank you so much.

Glad you like it. The link is here Maggie's Cereal.

The carb count with the cereal is very conservative (meaning I tend to over estimate). I was a true "Old Fashioned" Quaker oat meal eater and this really made a winter breakfast wonderful for me.

Many thanks to the folks at Flax-O-Meal, whose delicious, but expensive, cereal inspired me to develope a "knock off."

I haven't tried making it myself. I've only used the real Flax-O-Meal so far.

I used to love oatmeal, too. It makes me wish I could put brown sugar on this.

Is there anyway to fake the taste of brown sugar?

I know what you mean about the brown sugar, Dr.
Sugar Twin makes a fairly good brown sugar substitute - I just add a bit to mine for the flavor.

Yes. I don't much like the taste of sugar twin or any of the syrups that purport to taste like brown sugar. IMHO, they just don't.

I've played around with it quite a bit and the very best I've come up with is this: Put one a cup of erythritol into a ziplock bag. Add one teaspoon of treacle. Massage it around until it's all mixed up. It will have both the taste and consistency of brown sugar.

I use Lyle's Black Treacle. I can often get it when I'm in Canada, but you can also order it on-line if you can't find it in the store. You can try it with molasses, but I found that to be nasty. Bitter and not like brown sugar at all.

Treacle is delicious and I love it while molasses is bitter and I hate it. No comparrison.

Treacle is 64gms of carbs per 100gms. That's 64 per 3.5 ounces, or 18 gms per ounce. With there being 2 ounces in a quarter cup (and 4 TB in a quarter cup) that comes to 4.6 gms per TB. A teaspoon of treacle then comes to 1.5 gms of carbs per cup, plus however you count your erythritol. (Feel free to check my math It's hardly my strongest skill.)

I count erythritol pretty low, myself and have no problems (BG-wise) with a spoonful of my "brown sugar" on my cereal.

I always wondered what treacle was! I remember reading about the all-treacle diet in Alice in Wonderland.

"Once upon a time there were three little sisters," the Dormouse began; "and they lived at the bottom of a well-"

"What did they live on?" said Alice.

"Treacle," said the Dormouse."

'They couldn't have done that," Alice remarked. "They'd have been ill."

"So they were," said the Dormouse; "very ill."

Alice went on: "But why did they live at the bottom of a well?" The Dormouse thought for a moment, and then said. "It was a treacle-well. And so these three little sisters were learning to draw."

"What did they draw?" said Alice.

"Treacle," said the Dormouse.

Alice did not wish to offend the Dormouse, so she said: "But I don't understand. Where did they draw the treacle from?"

"You can draw water out of a water-well," said the Hatter; "so I should think you could draw treacle out of a treacle-well, couldn't you?."

"Really, now you ask me," said Alice, very much confused, "I don't think -"

"Then you shouldn't talk," said the Hatter.
