| Personally, I love the discipline of induction. When I came off before I let down my guard a little day by day until I gave in and went back to eating too many carbs. While on induction I feel like I have to watch everything so carefully and it helps. Although my first attempts on Adkins I did not watch my carbs as closely and probably went over the allotted 20 grams at times. I don't feel deprived, yet I don't feel like I have ridden myself of feelings for sugar, bread etc. Any suggestions? |

| Mal W, I intend to stay on Induction for the whole month of January. I started on Jan.4th. Since I have over 100lbs. to lose, I'm figuring I need about a month to get the hang of low-carbing, and make it a habit. From all I've read (and I've done a TON of research!), I don't think an extra few weeks of induction will hurt. However, at some point, the research says, you will need to increase carbs to keep losing! Weird, I know, but if you read the science, it makes sense. Anyway, I hope I've helped and good luck! | Do keep in mind that you only up your carbs a little at a time and you should ONLY do so with veggies. If for any reason you feel too restricted (NOT a place you want to be) do up the carbs. Onions, tomatoes and avocados are a good choice (and they make a great salad!). just my 2 cents worth! |

| It is true that the research says that there is no harm in staying on induction longer then the recommended two weeks. Just keep in mind, that the longer you stay at such a low carb intake level, the more sensitive your body will become to carbs - so, down the road, if you do have a carb blowout, you'll see a bigger impact. | Dr. Atkins advises that if you have a significant amount of weight to lose, you can safely stay on induction for several weeks. If you don't have to lose that much weight, I would start adding 5g. of carbs per week, back into your program. Those carbs should come from veggies, as April Rose said. You will continue adding carbs back 5g. per week until your weight loss slows down; at that point, you've reached your CCLL (critical carb. level for losing). You don't want to stop losing of course, but you do want your body to learn how to handle good carbs. Take care~ Susan LCE Member since 01/02 |

| I too have more that 100 pounds to lose and will be doing induction for the month of January. I don't think it will be a problem, but I will be monitoring myself. |

| Just don't forget that OWL is the most important part of the program. It's during this period that you begin to explore and find the many foods, in different amounts, that can be part of your lifetime way of eating. Beyond your continuing weight loss, it's your education in how to maintain your new weight for the rest of your life.
