I may have just brainwashed myself into thinking I should lose a lot of weight really quick, but its day 8 and I am not where I thought I would be. Im very conscious of what I eat and count carbs and vary meals, etc...

What is the average weight loss by week (i know we are all different)?

Thanks!

Mike

PS---> I know im impatient :-)

Have you really lost 11 pounds in one week? I think you can't really expect to lose THAT much! You're not going to keep up that rate of weight loss. Give your body a chance to adjust. I'm not trying to be negative here--it took some time to gain the weight, and it's going to take some time to lose it. Be patient.

This is from someone who's been on for over a month without losing a pound. But I'm still sticking with it.

YMMV - it really depends, how tall are you, how much do you have to lose and honestly - how good are staying on program??

Basically (this is a general statement, should not be taken as a qualified statement of fact) you can expect to lose UP TO 14 pounds in your first 2 weeks of induction - please note, I said UP TO, not that you will, but you can.

Now you've made a good start, so don't push it. You need to give this time. You didn't gain those extra 50 pounds overnight!!

As a male you will lose quicker then us gals (and yes, we hate you for it ), your lose will slow down after induction, but you will notice that you can wear smaller sized clothes.

How long will it take you to get to goal?? No one can really say. BUT we can all be here to cheer you on, give you support and when needed, give you a verbal kick to not be impatient!!!

You're doing fine - RELAX!!!!

Hi, Mike.

Other than on induction, where a good percentage of the first weight lost is water, you don't WANT to lose more than 1-2 lbs per week. Beyond that you are stressing your sytem and your skin has a harder time keeping up with your loss.

You've already lost more than 20% of the weight you want to lose in 9 days!

I lost about 4 lbs after 2 weeks of induction, and at a rate of about 1/2 lb per week (not in a straight line, by any means - plenty of ups, downs and plateaus) therafter.

Few people lose as slowly as I did.

If you think of this as a way of life instead of a race, you'll regain your perspective, and realize that you are doing very well, indeed.

ok everyone. Thanks for keeping me inline :-)

My weight took a lot of time to put on, a good four years of college and 2 years since!

So I will calm down, and enjoy my new way of eating!

My new nickname at work is Cammel, becuase everytime I am seen in the kitchen I am filling my 4 water bottles. LOL

Personally, (and I know this sounds strange), I'm kind of happy every time I have to make a trip to the bathroom. I envision liquified fat cells and toxins leaving my body every time.

The cells of your body should stay where they are, but it has been estimated that people loose between 50-100 calories a day via ketone loss in the urine, breath and sweat. While I am not sure if it has been experimentally tested yet, I would imagine that drinking more water would put you at the higher end of the range.

My 2 cents.

Last year when I lost a lot of weight. I was afraid to set on the scale. So I waited 3 weeks. In 3 weeks I had lost 24.5lbs and I am female. It scared me to death. I slowed down right after that or otherwise I would have been skin and bones in 2 months. Even after that wonderful weight loss I lost 2 lbs a week for about 6 weeks. But each month I lost a little bit less and finally in June I really wasn't losing.

For the same period of time my sister only lost 11 lbs and she had more weight to lose.

So we are all completely different. Don't be worry 11 lbs in the first week is great. Wait until you read about someone not losing anything the first week.

Oh, duh. How dumb of me. Of course our fat cells don't leave, they just shrink. I think I meant to say liquified fat. Oh well
