I looked on the women's forum for info on this but couldn't find any. Does the birth control pill affect Atkins? Is it ok to take it while on Atkins. Does anybody have any experience with this. I stopped taking it to start Atkins but one of the reasons I take the pill is for acne and I'm breaking out again so I'd like to go back on it but I'm afraid it'll slow my progress. Any advice???

Gen, any prescription changes should always be discussed with your doctor.

If you're taking the BCP for acne, it's a relatively small dose and shouldn't affect your weight loss.

Some pills have a worse response towards weight loss. Check with your doctor-I took Yasmin for 6 months, and it is one that is not supposed to have a side effect of making you gain weight. HOWEVER, not sure if that particular pill will help with acne.

I take Yasmin. My PA said it was good for your face and prevented acne. She also said it was a diretic so there would be no weight gain (and there hasn't been unless I literally screw up) The only thing it did to me - during one of the pink pills week, you're suppose to spot. Well, not me! Instead, my TOM came and threw me out of whack! Probably the reason I've stalled this week...hmmmm...
