i would like to get a mushroom omlette at corner bakery (or a similar restaurant) since i don't have much time to cook! (i'm not such a fabulous cook anyway ...
but i worry that they add milk (maybe cream?) to their egg mix ... ?!

maybe you can ask them to be sure, but if's only 2 eggs, not much milk could be added, and if it's cream it might be ok?

If they say they use milk or cream but you don't want to get it then, just get a meat? (for today anyways)

Also, what I do, is (I don't' have time either) is I make a egg casserole on Sunday and just cut a piece off for each day and take it with me... (if you have a micro to heat it up w/)

I would guess that you would just need to order it without any added liquid. Though a small amount of water works well in an omelet. Trust your restaurant to do what you ask or find a new place to eat.

all right, they made the omlette w/ just eggs -- but they use a margarine-ish liquid to cook it. i know atkins says butter, no margarine. why is that??

OOOps, that would explain why I stalled last time when I was with Atkins. I got frustrated and gave up then. My neighbor works at Denny's and would bring me one or two home from work, and I would heat it up the next day for breakfast, or have one for dinner.

I have a Corner Bakery in my office building which I frequent. Having gotten to know the staff and managers, I have asked them to use oil or butter and not a liquid margarine when they cook eggs for me. They have had no problem doing it.

I think the margarine thing is because Atkins felt that trans-fats in margarine were bad for your overall health, not a concern about it interfering with weight loss.

I eat margarine sometimes. I don't sweat over it.

About the mushroom omelette... I would probably just read the menu for the ingredients and not worry about the little bit of milk they put in the eggs. Mushroom omelettes, in general, sound like a very safe dining bet.
