| Are you sure??? I started Induction on Monday and 5 days later I've lost 5 pounds, so I'm not complaining. But while I'm happily eating scrambled eggs and bacon, I'm waiting for the sky to fall. I'm definitely staying under 20 carbs per day, but can you all assure me that I don't have to be looking at calories? This is just too good to be true. |

| Not at this stage in your game........ Closer to goal you may find that you have to take it into consideration. But, as a beginner, don't worry about it. Geez, 5 pounds in a week is great. If it's working, don't "fix" it. Judy 180/139/135-138 "How long does getting thin take?" Winnie the Pooh,Winnie the Pooh by A. A. Milne |

| Calories absolutely DO count. BUT most people - if they keep their carbs low enough - don't have to obsessively count them especially in the beginning. I guess what I'm trying to say is that if you're keeping your carbs nice and low, you won't need to count calories AS LONG AS you are "eating until satisfied but not stuffed", ! Try this article I wrote a while ago. I think it might help clarify some things in your mind, and might help others as well: http://www.lowcarbeating.com/article...ach.php?id=204 Especially the quotes from DANDR on this subject in "Wrong Question #1"! | Like LCAndrea says, (and she is much more learned than me!) -- you shouldn't have to worry much about calories on induction. The point being that at 20 carbs per day, after 3-4 days you will likely find your appetite suppressed. As Dr. Atkins says in DANDR "How many people do you find that are compulsive eaters of steaks? They are a rare breed, believe me." For example, look how I lower my carbs at work (14 hour plus days no kitchen)... order burger, take away bun... they serve fries with it, don't eat those... and I find that while I"m eating so much LESS (I used to eat all my fries) I'm actually not really hungry (or not so hungry that a bit of water won't satiate me) In other words, generally speaking, the calories sort of take care of themselves, so long as you aren't binging. -Kristen |

| If you're losing weight, they don't count. For some of us, they counted from the beginning. I didn't have enough bad eating habits before I started to drop off pounds very quickly. |
